• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS24 Issue with light objects not being rendered unless in DevMode

I have an issue with light objects, such as the PAPI, approach lights and the runway lights, that they are not rendered in my scenery, unless I enter Devmode. I do not have any light supports covering these areas so I am not really sure what triggers it and do not find anything indicating an issue in the console.

When I exit DevMode, it looks good.

But at the next startup the lights are missing. At my airport, except for the taxi lights I added as light rows, they are gone. If I load a stock airport, they are there again and they show up on my airport again afterwards.

Has anyone experienced anything similar to this? Is it most likely an issue with my scenery or could it be something with streaming of packages? (I assume fs-base is not streamed?)

In your package definition file, what is your PackageOrderHint, and exactly what is the purpose of your addon?

Hi!
The PackageOrderHint is as follows:
<PackageOrderHint>CUSTOM_AIRPORT</PackageOrderHint>
It is a custom airport, so I have deleted everything but the frequencies of the default airport and added custom runways, ILSs etc. Have a ModelLib asset group and a scenery asset group in the project.
The light objects are under as follows:
<AssetGroup Name="scenery">
<Type Version="0">Airport</Type>
<Flags>
<FSXCompatibility>false</FSXCompatibility>
</Flags>
<AssetDir>PackageSources\Scenery\esno-ornskoldsvik\scenery\</AssetDir>
<OutputDir>Scenery\esno-ornskoldsvik\scenery\</OutputDir>
</AssetGroup>

Will keep the eyes open. Sounds like it could be me zooming too far if that is what triggers it according to Asobo.

You may have an issue with the compiled scenery xml. Dev Mode will read from your project folder, which has your objects in it. It will display them as modelled. If you cant see them outside of Dev mode, they may be missing or corrupted within your compiled scenery xml.
