• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MDL Converter X Help Please

Hi,

About the installer/updater ideas. The settings for modelconverterx are stored by .net. As long as you install a new version in exactly the same folder you will keep the old settings. If you install it in a new folder you will get the default settings.

The settings themselves are stored somewhere hidden in your user data, I can dig up the path if that helps some people.

As already mentioned, people might want to have different versions next to each other. The latest release sometimes has some bugs. The older versions can still be downloaded from my site as well, so you can always revert back.

Since download and unzip is quite easy, I never considered to make an installer for the tool. But maybe a function to easily swap settings between versions might be an idea.

Hi Arno. What confused me is that when I went to your site the Version said 1.3 which I downloaded and installed. The ModelConverterx.dll in the package is Version 1.4.0. It has all your changes in it and works like a champ!!! Thanks so very much. I really appreciate it. Regards, Bob.

On which page did you see that? Then I can fix it.

Hi Arno. I was wrong. Sorry. On your Scenery Design site it says:

"Download the latest development release.

Posted by arno at 9:27 pm on September 3rd, 2011. "

That's why I thought it was not the latest due to the date.

Regards, Bob.

Hi,

Yes, that is a bit confusing. I made that page on that day, but the download link points to a zip that is updated automatically every night. I didn't find an easy way to update the page date automatically either.
