• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

merge objects using command line

I wonder if it's possible to use the MCX command line to merge several objects.
I have 100 different models, and want to add a certain model to all of them using the merge option in MCX.
Is that possible?

Hi,

I would have to check if that's possible. But else it's probably something I can add.

I checked, at the moment it is not possible. You can't merge objects in the batch conversion (which you can use from the command line) and also not directly. So I think it would be something I would have to add.

Do you want a simple merge or do you foresee that you want to specify offsets and things like that as well?

a simple merge should do. if I need offset or other modifications, I think I could always make it a 2-step and do the modification first, and then the merge.
Thanks for looking into it. :)

Hi,

One more question, the current merge object tool only merges one LOD into the loaded object. Is that also what you want here or would you assume that for a MDL file all LODs are merged?

For me, one LOD is sufficient, as I would create each LOD seperately anyway and maybe later merge them into one model.

Ok, I have implemented it now. It will be in the next development release. See the manual for how to use it.
