• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Am I the only one that finds it very annoying that MSFS decides by itself when it needs to download an update? Today I was continuing my research in the new MSFS 2024 formats and while running the FSPackageTool suddendly I had to wait multiple minutes (luckily my internet is relatively fast) because the game needs to be updated. Why does MS have to right to prevent me from running the game in the state I have it installed on my disk and does it force me to update at moment that don't suite me?

With MSFS 2020 I had this annoyance very often as well. As a tool developers I don't fly in the sim that often. So usually when I want to test something in the simulator I first have to download and install gigabytes of updates to do a simple test. This really annoys me in the new simulator.

Ya agree they should make it a opt in on new updates. Otherwise keep the existing version, and then update when you want to.

But that is the way now - it's Xbox driven - not PC anymore. "Cloud Gaming"

You're right Arno. One of my annoyances is that the Microsoft custom airports do not follow the same best practices the rest of us follow. Multiple duplicated objects between different airport packages with duplicate GUIDs, lack of proper LODs (resulting in weird popping in and out of objects)... Also 3 minute load times to start the sim (I don't know who takes the blame for that).

they did make it clear that in order to effectively stream everything to everyone, there can't be more than one version of the sim online. At least with 2024 it's easier that 2020, completely automatic. This morning when the update started, I popped in the shower. Luckily 15 minutes earlier I'd managed to build a package a couple of times.

1.1.10.0 is the latest version right?

This post made me think they must have pushed an update out today so I should update the sim while I can (so I don't have to wait when I need to do something) but it must be a while since Arno ran MSFS2024 because the last update I had was well over a week ago.

Yes, there was an 831mb update today.

MSFS24 announces an update is needed, then automatically proceeds with that download.

Well I would have thought we have a flight simulator so we don't actually have to get up, go out and walk around the dang airplane, shows what I know. And then, when I am half way across the Atlantic, I am still waiting for it to simulate a wife dressed in a stewardess costume bringing me my coffee.
