• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I guess here is where panel questions should go, rather than in the modeling section... :)

So I got mixed results from building my panel. As with the model, I piggybacked it onto the Extra...

Aside from the obvious, the switch for the gps does not work, I need some switches for the wooden part of the panel, and why would the sky be showing through the top portion of the spark control?

Any thoughts?

Hi Kevin,

although I am almost useless in this forum, I can help you with your last question. All parts of the panel graphic that are true black will become transparent. True black means a RGB value of 0,0,0. You can solve this issue by changing the color to something more greyish - like 1,1,1. To do so, open the graphic in photoshop and select the lower part of your panel that should not be transparent. Then open the "Replace Color" dialog under Image->Adjustments->Replace Color. If its not available, you may need to change the graphic mode to "RGB" first (Image->Mode->RGB Color).

As selective color choose true black. Click on the upper color box and change the values of R,G and B to 0. Set the fuzziness to 0, click on "selection" and change the "result color" to something like RGB 1,1,1. Click ok, change the color mode back, save the file and you should be fine.

If not: by changing the color mode to "indexed colors", the "almost black" (1,1,1) might be left out. You can now either change the color table manually, or instead do the same procedure as above with an "almost black" color of, say, 10,10,10, which still is quote black.

oooh - and your instruments seems to be not round but oval...
 
A somewhat simpler way is to use the Magic Wand to select only triple-zeros (0,0,0) Contiguous, then Invert your Selection.

Use the Brightness adjustment to add precisely +1 to all selected pixels. Voila! All RGB values are increased by precisely one.

I defy anyone to "see" the difference between 156,163,172 and 157,164,173... :D

BTW, this applies to all gauge artwork as well. You must remove any triple-zeros from the gauge art except where you actually want an area (such as corners) to be transparent.
