ModelConverterX Not opening

Hi Arno.

First off I'd like to say thanks for making such fine tools for the modding community. They have always worked without issue for me until now that is. I recently updated to the latest Developers version and installed the required visual studio 2015-2019 as instructed. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to want to open at all. I've tried downloading and installing it and the proper visual studio for my system a number of times now with the same results. I'd really like to get this working if possible. I'm running Windows 10 Pro version 2004 if that helps.

Thanks in advance,
Ed

Hi Ed,

Since a few days MCX needs .NET framework 4.7.2 (before it used 4.0). Could it be you don't have this version of the framework installed?

Hi Arno,
i Have the same problem like Ed, it's just not responding when it starts.
I already install the VC runtime and i already have the .NET framework 4.7.2
I'm running Win 10 Home Edition.

And strangely the MCX 1.3 also not working with the same symptom.

Thanks for your response.

Thanks for the quick reply Arno. I'll give that a shot and unlike i.am.okie my MCX 1.3 still works fine though. Will let you both know how it goes.

Cheers
Ed

Hi,

Yes, but version 1.3 is very old. I think it used .NET 2.0. The version 1.4 uses .NET 4.0 and now with version 1.5 I have gone up to .NET 4.7.2.

Hi Arno,

Well seeing as I found out .NET 4.7.2. is already installed on my system that isn't the problem. Not sure what it could be now but if I can't get this version 1.5 to work is there somewhere I can get the version 1.4 since I deleted mine.

Cheers
Ed

Do you get any error or so when you try to open it? And does any window show?

Since you have the framework installed, you might want to try to delete the old configurations. Sometimes that helps.

I still need to finish the 1.4 stable release, so there is no download for it now.

Ed, There's a Windows update to .net framework this month. I'm wondering if its Pending install on your machine and causing some sort of problem?

Hi Arno,

No error messages I only get the spinning blue cursor for a couple of seconds then nothing. I'll give yours and xr219's suggestions a try and I'll be looking forward to the 1.4's completion.

Ed

Thanks for all your help guys. Cleaning up the old configurations in the \AppData\Local\SceneryDesign.org folder solved it and it's working great now.:)

Thanks again,
Ed

Glad to hear it's working again :)

Hi Arno,

Cleaning the \AppData\Local\SceneryDesign.org folder didn't work for me, it's still freezing on startup.
I wonder if there is any log file which describe the error ?

Hi Ed, i'm glad your mcx already working nicely, if you don't mind i'd like to continue this thread to consult with Arno.

Thanks for your responses guys.

Hi,

Do you get any error message and what do you see when it freezes?

You mean that you see ModelConverterX in the task bar but the main window never appears?

And did you check if .NET 4.7.2 is installed, like mentioned at the start of the thread?

yes i already check, and using the .net framework installer it verified that i have .net framework 4.7.2 or later installed
