• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Moving Objects with tool

Here I am already, I'm stoked and ready to get started with the Object Placement Tool that is now in my FSX Free flight menu bar. Here is what I would like to do first: Move a dock which has a hangar, crates, fireplace, ramps to land and water, fuel station, and my default aircraft sitting on the dock to a new lat & Long just north (about a mile) from it's present location. My question is; can I move the whole dock and all the stuff on it in one step? or do I have to move each object one at a time? Like move dock 1st, then, the hangar sitting on it, then crates, chairs , fireplace etc.? The seaplane dock is one of many installed from MOCAT's Caribbean Seaplane Tours. He recommended I try using this tool to move it to the correct position on the Florida Coastline near Cocoa Beach. Anxious to get started.

Hello:

Assuming that the scenery objects placed by MOCAT's Caribbean Seaplane Tours are FS2004 / FSX file format MDLs compiled into BGLComp-compatible libraries and placed via BGLComp-compatible XML methods, it may be easier to achieve your goal by using the payware product "Instant Scenery" by Konstantin Kukushkin sold via Flight1:

http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=iscen3

"Instant Scenery" version 3 (aka "IS3") has the ability to interactively place and/or move objects individually or in groups, with the objects showing in a live FS flight session.

Think... MSFS SDK 'Object Placement Tool' (aka "OPT") on steroids ! ;)

In IS3, after opening a scenery library object placement BGL file from ex: MOCAT's Caribbean Seaplane Tours for editing certain placement parameters, you can:

1.) Select a "Group" of existing visible scenery objects at a desired 'source' location

2.) "Copy" them as a group (with all relative object placement positions maintained intact)

3.) "Move" user aircraft and view to a new 'target' or destination location

4.) "Paste" the group onto the ground, and fine tune final location of the objects as desired

5.) Re-select and "Delete" the original 'group' at its source location as desired.

Hope this idea helps make your task easier ! :)

Thanks for the info, I got the program and have read the instructions several times. With your input, I feel confident to try it.

Hi Jerry:

Although the "official" support forum for Instant Scenery and other products by that developer is here:

http://www.simforums.com/forums/scenery-and-mission-making-tools_forum31.html

...if you encounter an unusual problem or require some clarification on something with IS3 after reasonably diligent RTFM'ing, repeated tinkering, or waiting a very long time for a reply from the (very busy ? ) developer in the support forum above, feel free to inquire here, and either myself or one of the other good folks here may be able to help.

Happy scenery building ! :)
