• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Negative values?

Arno (or anyone else that knows!),

I am using mdltweaker 0.21. I am using the variable for distance along z axis. While this does work great, it will only let me put in positive numbers. I am trying to make the object appear from -20m to 0m. I've tried it from 0m to 20m and it works great, but it is in the opposite direction than I am trying to place the condition! When I do put in -20 to the minimums box, it only gives me a run-time 6 error; overflow. Am I missing something?

Hi Matt,

Did you put the radio box to dec instead of hex? With hexadecimal values negative numbers are not allowed.

Yes, that is one of the first things I do. There have been too many times that I have forgotten to do that. Does MdlTweaker convert decimal to hex when it is compliling the new file? Maybe the overflow is in there? Taking the 2's complement of 20 decimal (14 hex) produces FFFFFFEC which may be the problem if the 'F's keep running on and on. Then again, I'm not sure how you are handling negative decimal values in your program so I'll stop guessing!

Thanks for the help!

Hi Matt,

Yes, I am indeed converting them, before I write it into the MDL file. I will have to check what happens with negative values.

Hi Matt,

Could you try this new EXE? The problem was that the negative hex string was 4 byte long, while the variable was only 2 bytes. Should be fixed now :).

EDIT: File found in download section now.
