• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

New Earth correction window

Hi Arno,

nice addition of that Earth button! :)

Unfortunately it does not use the coordinates assigned in the object properties. I would strongly suggest to add that, because right now you have to manually enter the coordinates, something that was not necessary before if you assigned default coordinates to the object properties.

Hi,

It's supposed to use the same coordinates, but it seems I made a mistake there. I'll fix that soon.

Send from my phone using Tapatalk, so excuse the short sentences and possible typos

Thanks for fixing it, Arno. :) But with the new window it's even harder to figure if you actually clicked the button. It would certainly be helpful if something informs the user if the correction was processed. Maybe a tag in the correction window or a sound effect? I often do several "missed" clicks within a long working day, but usually you can see if you clicked correct or missed a button in the tools I use. Here it's impossible to tell. Maybe the tool could just remember if you altered the file and if you try to do it again (for example fx correction and earth correction) it tells the user to rather not do it. :)

Hi Thorsten,

Yes, that is still on my todo list, to see if I can make it visible somewhere that the conversion has been done. But a little more feedback in the window should be possible. I am planning to add a progress bar or so, since it can take a few seconds for complex objects to do the calculations.

Hi Thorsten,

I was thinking, I might add an empty attachpoint to signal if the correction has been added or not. That would be kept when saving to X file or MDL. Do you think that is a good approach?

Hi Thorsten,

I added a first implementation to the development release Thursday evening. Let me know if this helps already.

The new surface looks promising, Arno - but unfortunately I can't import any x file anymore.
None of my x files seem to work.

Additionally, it was so nice to be able to drag+drop a file into MCX, this is not possible anymore. Now I need to click onto export, navigate to the folder and scroll down to find the file I want to open. Is there a way of getting the drag+drop back?

Hi Thorsten,

I just noticed myself as well that the drag and drop got lost, so let me fix that.

I'll also test with some of your X files. I think I saw your bug report already.

Hi Thorsten,

I fixed the drag and drop issue.

For reading X files, I found an issue that not all X files were recognised correctly. That one is fixed.

But I think you also had a crash with the queue size as problem, did you get that often? I can't reproduce that one.

New development release should be online in 30 minutes or so.

Thanks! :) No idea how you can fix stuff so fast...

I only got that error once, it might not have been important, think my PC had to do too many things at the same time when I tried to open that file.

Hi,

I can fix them just as quick as I can introduce them :D

Let me know if that crash happens again, but I could not reproduce it here with the X files I have to test. I seemed to be an overload of the event log in some way.

At least you can fix them as fast as you produce them. I usually make errors that take 10 times as long to find and fix them...

Everything working like a charm now! :) But am I blind? Can't seem to find the render buttons anymore. Where can I switch between wireframe, textured, normals,...?

Oh, and I think it would be nice if the buttons for windows like object properties, earth correction,... would be popup popdown buttons. Now, if you click on them twice, you get a duplicate window. Or at least, make MCX bring back the already opened window to the front again. It happens that other windows are in front of it, so if you click onto the button again, the windows comes to the front.

Hi Thorsten,

It must have been me being blind, I don't know why I did not miss that toolbar before. It will be back in the next development release (1:10 from now I expect).

About those buttons. I'll think about it. At the moment the tool forgets about the window after it is opened, so I have to so how hard it is to remember the previous opened form.
