• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

New feature for ObPlacer XML

I am going to add a new feature to ObPlacer XML. To make it easier to move a current object, I am going to add a function that can place your aircraft to the current position of the object. You can then start moving from there.

At the moment I am trying to implement this and it looks like I need to shift from FsConnect to FSUIPC. But that should not be a problem as FSUIPC is very common :).

More news will follow when I have it.

OK, the new version is now almost ready. In the end I have added a few more new features, then only the ability to write the position to FS. Some of the other new features are:

  • preview pictures (yes, all requests for that features helped :))
  • the BGL path is now remembered for each XML file
  • You can rescan the objects in the tree, for example to update a user library after you have added a new object with Library Creator XML, so no need anymore to restart ObPlacer XML in that case

I "only" have to finish the new manual and finish the installer (like the one I used with Library Creator XML) and then I will release this new version.

Great! I'm really looking foreward to this new version, for I'm using the old for both my projects. You now implement just those features which I am missing. :) ;)
