I admit it has been a while since I developed a scenery object, but will be doing more in the future. I ran into some nice Estonian scenery on Avsim this morning and was very interested in the following statement in the File_id:
File Description:
New scenery of Tallinn airport and surrounding obstacles. Optimized for all-weather operations. NAV data are up to date (effective date 05 APR 2012). In addition to other improvements, this version corrects a problem caused by a bug in FSX SDK. The standard Blend mode of rendering day textures during the day and night textures at night never worked in FSX due to the fact that FSX Model exporter injected unspecified parameters into 3D objects ('Blended' instead of 'Blend'). Scenery developers should debug their X files manually or MDL files with ModelConverterX.
Is this a true statement? If so, it would explain some problems I've had with night textures for scenery objects in the past. It seemed like the night texture always interfered somewhat with the day texture during day light.
Is he saying just to add night textures through ModelConverterX or is there a debugging procedure involved? Forgive me if this has been discussed before but I can't find it.
Best, Paul
