• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Night Textures

I am using FSDS3 which I find okay, but I thought I would have a go at night textures, but even thought I think I have set the correct parameters the textures don't show, I think maybe it's a failure in the programme as the textures I used for the night version show okay when set for daytime use. I have set the part properties to show at night and the object shows okay but minus the textures. Anyone any ideas? Am I missing something?

Neil,

I'm certainly no expert here, but I just placed my night texture over my daytime texture and they both show up in FS9. Be sure that your night texture file is like *_lm.bmp and that is not 24 bit, and it should work.

When you add the texture to the list, check the 'Night' box and make sure your night texture has '_LM' at the end of the file name. The day texture would look like texture.bmp and the night version would look like texture_lm.bmp.

Note that FSDS often does not show the night texture in the editor, but it does work in the sim. If you're looking for it to show in the editor, you may think you've done something wrong when you really haven't. Try it in the sim to verify the texture is showing.

Sorted, I wasn't placing the _lm texture in the texture list of the object, I knew it was something simple! me! cheers. Neilb
