• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi Guys.

I am trying to populate EGHI from the UK2000 scenery folder with a static ATR72. I have the latest update for SAMM and have followed the pdf doc as far as I can see. However, no static aircraft shows up on the apron.

I have tried several times even going as far as deleting out the previously made .mdl files and folders and starting again from the beginning.

I have not tried using another airport as yet but just wondered if the UK2000 sceneries would not allow any modifications.

I have IS and ADE but have not tried using them either, as it seemed quite straightforward using SAMM but as I said it is not working for me.

I would appreciate any hints or tips as to what may be wrong.

Cheers...Kenny

If you've placed it where you are looking using SAMM's Save .bgl File feature and have enabled the scenery folder where you placed it, it should be there.

If you send me the aircraft folder (or a link to it), I'll confirm it converts properly.

Hi Don.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.

I have discovered through trial and error that I need to select a setting of VERY DENSE in the appropriate option box instead of the default selection of NORMAL. This is not mentioned in the pdf doc. Perhaps an assumption is made that everyone knows that but I didn't, so I've learned something new.

My ATR now shows at EGHI where I want it.

Cheers...Kenny

Kenny, are you saying that you had to select VERY DENSE on SAMM's placement dialog when your system settin was normal? This is very unusual.

Conversely, if you had initially selected VERY DENSE on the placement dialog, then your system setting would have to be VERY DENSE or higher. This is basic scenery management and applies to any scenery you add to your airports - not just static aircraft.

In any case, I will remind users of this requirement in the user manual for SAMM 2.

Hello Don.

It looks like I have caused you some confusion. I meant that I had to select VERY DENSE in the SAMM placement window. I had tried placing the default Baron at KSEA in FS2004 and at that point the placement setting was NORMAL but again, no Baron.

I then remembered that I had read somewhere that for some scenery items to show, the FS setting had to be on very dense. I then selected VERY DENSE in the placement window and voila, up popped the ATR.

I can only assume that my FS setting is also set to very dense, I did not make the connection that both programmes needed the same setting but I will check that this afternoon after Church and post back to let you know. I am on my wife's laptop at the moment. I will reset both back to normal and see what happens.

Cheers...Kenny

They don't need to be the same. In order for a scenery item to show, its scenery complexity setting must be at or below that of the sim. For example, if your sim setting is NORMAL, then any scenery between VERY SPARSE and NORMAL will be displayed. Scenery whose complexity setting is DENSE or VERY DENSE will not.

Based on your description, you seem to be experiencing the opposite, i.e., scenery displays only when its complexity setting is higher than that of the sim. No one has ever complained about this before (with regard to SAMM).

If the latter situation persists, please send me your aircraft's subfolder from SAMM's Models folder.

Don
