• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Objects for EZ-Scenery

Sidney Schwartz (amongst others) has inspired me to try my hand in making objects to use with my EZ-scenery. What programs do I need and how do I go about making them (objects) into libraries that EZ-Scenery recognizes? I currently have FSDS v2.24 and using FS2004. I have made aircraft before but objects are new to me. Appreciate any help. DougD

Hi,

What you have to do is make the objects as scenery MDL files. This can be done with FSDS, but you need version 3 for that. Another option is to use GMax.

Once you have the MDL files, you can put them in a scenery library wit the EZ-Library Manager tool that comes with EZ-Scenery or with the Library Creator XML tool I made.

When you then load them in FS, EZ-Scenery will recognise the new library and you are ready to use the objects.

I finally installed FSDS V3.5.1 along with MakeMDL & BglComp. I used some objects that I made in FSDS V2.24 saved them as mdl's using my new V3 and was able to get to appear in FS2004 using EZ-Scenery. The sky is the limit for scenery objects now. On a sad note my, my projects in FSDS V2.24 have lost all their texture settings (weird).

It's weird Felix, they look fine in FSDS3 just as they did in FSDS2. Oh well. I guess I'll just learn to use FSDS3 from now on. I know this is a scenery forum but how do you get the land- ing & taxi lights to come on? In FSDS2 there was a "pre-process" but there isn't any in FSDS3. I compiled one of my older FSDS2 aircraft via FSDS3 and now neither of them come on.

:eek:Wholly cow! all that for landing & taxi lights. Thanks Felix, I bookmarked that link for future reference.
