• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Open world simulation project

Greetings;
I have an idea of a flight simulator add on that would make flight simming a more enjoyable experience and more reliable and close to reality, its general idea is to create a multiplayer add on for pilots and first officers where they can meet in a briefing room, review their charts and documents, and then walk to their plane in a terminal instead of just starting simulation at the cockpit, the idea also involves people playing in the multiplayer world) as fuel truckers and push back men and ground services.
I am starting to gather a team for such a project, so is there any developers willing to be in my team, please if there contact me (gamalagaby1234@gmail.com).
thank you

A very ambitious idea... but a lot of people are waiting for something like this in the near future. Good luck with your project and try to meet realistic goals and, more important, don't start to hype the public until you have a very nice working prototype/engine/sim.

Hi Gerli,
First of all thank you for you advise, but i would like to note that i am not hyping people at all i just want developers who like the idea to start using their developing abilities in some way to approach the idea instead of just waiting for a good sim or engine.
i don't think there is any thing unrealistic with the idea specially when it can be done by designing a multiplayer game on unity or whatever and link it to the sim some how. i belive it will be done by good planing.
this is just my point of view, but thank you again for your advise and please if any one have another advise i will be more than happy to read it.

P3D v3's avatar feature could be starting point. Check multiplayer compatibility though before dreaming on. And be prepared to develop this thing all by yourself, if need be.

I have an idea of a flight simulator add-on <cut>...... the idea also involves "people playing in the multiplayer world") as fuel truckers and push back men and ground services.

Some questions to get things clarified:
1 - Do you want to merge a flightsimulator with / into a real-world simulation game like "The Sims" or "Second Life"?
2 - Do you just want to extend a flightsimulator with human-shaped move-able and animated models of persons (like Heretic's mentioned P3D human shaped "Avater").
3 - How are you going to connect al these add-ons (movements) with each other?
Are you also design, program and building a better multiplayer server? (then the current flightsim online multiplayer servers like GameSpy, FsHost, FsOpen and/or FSD (IVAO, VATSIM) backend servers?

4 - What else more do you have in mind then the "briefing-together-process?"
Once you got the connectivity platform going, this offers more reallife interaction options into the "flightsim world".

ARMA series is also a good example of merging first person and different vehicles across land, air and sea on the same world.

Thank you all for your suggestions, but let me indicate what I currently have in mind in order to apply it, it will not be a direct addon installation to the sim, basicly there will be a simple program that when launched will start a simple game like the ones we play(not connected to the sim) it lets you do everything from briefing to going to change your cloth, during this phase you will check in, this basically lets the program know how it will launch the sim, so basically when you check in you will fill in every input you used to put in the free flight section before hitting that start flight button but in a more game like (such as pappers or computer), then when you get to the gates the program will end the game and start the sim using the inputs put earlier and you continue, it only is considered an addon because we might need the sim's server to make it a multi player.
this is considering the pilot side, on the other hand when it comes to the engineer or any ground crew, there will more complications, but they all involve doing what ever you will do outside the sim, then applying some changes to some values in the sim, for example consider an engineer, he will check the aircraft and the engines in his own game in a view that is game friendly, after his work is done all his changes will set a failure in the sim and so on, so basically the addon is an exterior web of games that connect to the simulator at the end, notbuilt in the sim. this web is put online using the sim server hence its name addon.

This would require a tremendous amount of resources and I really doubt that there's a valid market for this.

Besides, this sounds as if it was pulled straight out of Flop...err, Star Citizen.

As is GTA, but both of them have two things in common: Simplified systems in vehicles and a rather small map.

Hahaha.
In Chris Roberts we trust.

Indeed, that sounds like the "Hangar or Planetside Module" in Star Citizen, you go there, change your clothes, load the guns/ammo on your ship then take the elevator to the street level where you can meet other people, drink some beer at the bar, assemble a group and finaly go to the docks where the ships are ready to board.

Another good example is the now closed PlayStation Home, a social 3D world where you can socialise and launch games from some especific locations while having a 3D avatar and all

Hello,
you have an amazing project here, you know, Im currently dreaming of a new sim too, unfortuantely I don't have time and motivation (and money)
