• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Ok, so I will try to design a good East Midlands scenery but here are a few things i would like to know ASAP.

Where can i get a good stalite image of the airport and resize it to real world size so i can use it for reference where the taxiways and buildings go ETC.

Where can i get measurements of the building in east midlands? or do i just do this by trial and error and see if it looks right or not?

As soon as I know them 2 questions I can get on with it at an early stage.
I will be using 3DSMax for the design.

Any people willing to help me would be very much appreciated.
I need these people:
Someone to provide me with good pictures of several parts in the EGNX aiport
Someone to provide me with building dimensions.

And someone that will give me good guidance on the go.

Regards
PS I know there are people out that that can easily help me with these (experianced people)

There is an FSX version of EGNX already available in UK2000 VFR Airfields Volume 2:

and look how terrible it looks!

UK2000 Part X for FS9 is better than this!

And I want to develop EGNX for FS2004 at Aerosoft quality or flytampa.

Here at FSD, you are the only person that has done this...putting a block aid infront of my plans with an existing scener that is below average!

Did you do this with Aerosoft and UK2000 Xtreme?
and all other amazing payware products.

Sorry but this annoyed me, George.

This is no help at all, and this thread is "Looking for help" section, in no way at all does this image of EGNX help me.

I'm confident that George meant only to inform, not to deliberately annoy...

It might be wise to crank down the attitude a notch or two...

Hi Darren,

The first thing you'll need to develop good scenery is patience. So ... forget about "ASAP", and resist the temptation to offend (experienced) people here like George who don't give you what you exactly what you want.

The scenery you have criticised was (no-doubt) made by experienced people, and you have asked some fundamental questions that tell me that you haven't made scenery before.

1) Sourcing satellite imagery --- you'll need to ask whether the scenery is intended to be offered for sale, or free distribution, or for your own use. If you are going to sell it, you'll need to purchase licensed imagery. For free scenery there may be Tileservers that offer a "fair use" policy. For your own use, well it's probably not going to be an issue. I develop scenery in Aus and the US ... but someone in the UK may be able to chime in with a source.

2) Dimensions are inherently part of orthogonally rectified imagery ... if you have purchased a GIS package, it will no doubt have a ruler or similar. These packages are much chaper than 3DSMax, which you apparently already own. You can build buildings to match the dimensions as you measure them. a cheaper option is to use the ruler in Google Earth to do much the same thing.

3) Which version of 3DsMax have you purchased? Unfortunately, if it is a current series (2009, 2010, 2011) you are out of luck as the ACES toolkits do not work with these versions. It would also be a good idea to have a legit license for the version you are using if you are intending to offer things for sale. Max 8 and 9 are not widely available ... so in this case you may have to revert to Gmax ... or use a stop-gap (eg Pandasoft exporter)

Finally ... a large number of things are explained in the SDK that came with your FSX installation. Make sure it is updated to SP2 ...

¬_¬

You know, you mention that I criticise people here and the people that made the EGNX scenery that George shown me.

But in your post you presume things about? I think that is very very rude.

"New to scenery design"
"legit license of 3dsmax"

I could make buildings and texture them all day! but this time I want to model something that is accurate to the real world!

This is what offends me,
what makes you presume i don't have a legit copy of 3dmax?

You saying that is same as me saying your' wife is cheating on you.

I'm done with these forums I have had no help from any of you what so ever!

Your contribution will no doubt be sorely missed.

It is always a good idea to read what is written, and not assume that people are starting to attack or belittle you.

My apologies if I have underestimated your scenery design experience, and that you find this akin to accusing my wife of infidelity.
I will ask her about this when she gets home.

With regard to the "legit license" issue ... if you had read what is written, you may have understood. To clarify ... it is not easy to get a license for Max8 or Max9 because Autodesk no longer officially offer them. Now that you understand them two things you may realise that you have over-reacted (twice on the one thread!)

Good luck with all your endeavours.

HI george.GOLF,HotelDelta

thanks for the heads up on east mids airport....ive got vfr X scenery but only the first pack of airfields....the east mid pack with my vfr scenery, should look pretty good..

its my home airfield...i spend a lot of time there in the summer...your screenshot doesnt show the airopark...which is forward and starboard of the helo...if its not included i will have to model it...

there is a nice varied static display..and its run by volunteers...an f6 lightning.
and they are always willing to pop the hood and let me clamber inside...heaven....cheers jim

thanks for that. it looks very interesting....although in the midlands i hail from the south west.....well really the west...being a founding member of the somerset freedom fighters.....i used to live in chudleigh....jim
