• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Photomapping....

I've got a picture I'm planning on using for photomapping just solely for design work...

I created the bmp and noted the lat/lon co-ordinates of two points...

I then ran the whole thing through FS Resample Tools, and used the wizard to cross reference the two points to find the extents of the image...

I then finished up with the conversion and when I checked it against FS and the actual co-ordinates for those two lat/lon lines, the scenery seems to have placed it too far south...

Any ideas on what I migh have done wrong?

I trippled checked all co-ordinate data that I had input and it appears to be correct... The actual FS runway is almost on the money, so something is weird with my conversion...

Did you already solve this? In the showroom I noticed it looked better :).l

Yeah mostly, good ole' trial and error...

I Figured out the % difference in size between the NASA images and the ERSA diagrams, played around in Photoshop to match up the pictures (actually about 99.8% aligned) and threw the whole thing into FS...

I got quite the surprise how it came out.... The colors are all off, but some color correction in Photoshop should make it look a little less severe...

I didn't think it would look as good as it came out... Now if I can only equate a how many pixels in a degree I might be able to do the whole region...

I could probably come up with a grid overlay for Photoshop if I really wanted to mess with it more...

Anyways, makes me want to go placing scenery objects now...
