• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

PLACEPOINTSALONGLINE startDistance

Hi everyone
I'm doing some tests with the step PLACEPOINTSALONGLINE
with CONTINUOUS mode, if I change the value of parameter startDistance I get no difference (EXPORTSHP and test with QGIS)
with SINGLE mode, parameter startDistance is working properly

something wrong or is normal?
thanks as always ...

hi tejal
all other parameters (distance from point to point and height) are working properly, the problem is only the startDistance with CONTINUOUS mode

Hi,

Yes, that's by design if I remember correctly. When placing objects continuously along a line, like a barrier along a road, I didn't think it made sense to have a start offset.

Do you think it would be useful?

hi Arno
I Use step PLACEPOINTSALONGLINE to place lights along streets, do not even know whether it is better to use, continuous mode or single.
If to enable start offset also on continuous mode is relatively simple, I think it is convenient to enable it.

I take this opportunity to notify you a new problem.
I added some new items in my default.xml for a new bgl library objects (my street lights).
Scenproc creates agn (CREATEAGNLIBOBJ) properly with the new light objects (i can see them with annotator), but when flying with P3D, i do not see them. But if I save the same agn with annotator (P3D sdk 2.4), I see new objects properly.
scenproc settings is set for P3D v2 , and in spc i use EXPORTAGN | P3D v2 |
A few months ago this problem was not present, but I was using P3D 2.1, and now use the version 2.4, so this could be the cause.

I attach the zip with agn before and after saving annotator, so you can see the differences.

Thanks as always ... !

Hi,

I think for streetlights you would be better of with the SINGLE mode, with the CONTINUOUS mode the lights might end up less accurate along the road.

Thanks for the AGN files, I'll check if I can see a difference in them.

Hi,

I had a quick look at the AGN files and at first look the differences are only the rounding of the numbers many places behind the digit. So I don't see big differences.

You don't see any of the library objects at first? And the autogen buildings do show directly?

Hi Arno

With agn just created by scenproc, Flying with P3D i see everything except streetlights.
When I open annotator, I see everything properly placed, and with a simple save (without modification), in P3D I see everything correctly, including streetlights.

If it may be useful, these are the guid lights in my library objects

Ah good to hear. Didn't have the time yet to fully debug this.
