• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Prepar3d pricing announced

Hey All,

Today on the front page of the Prepar3d web site, we have announced the pricing for Prepar3d client licenses and the developer network.

Client licenses will be $499. This is quite a bit lower than the original MS ESP license cost, plus much easier to acquire - use a credit card and order online then immediately download.

While it's not mentioned on the front page, I believe there will also be discounts for educational institution use and I think volume discounts as well (not sure what is considered "volume" though :-> ).

The price for the Prepar3d Developer Network (PDN) subscription will be $9.95/month for the Registered Developer level, and $99.95/month for the Solution Developers level. Pricing and benefits under the Partner Developer level will be announced sometime in 2011.

TV use

Dear Tim:
Could you advise if that price of $499 would apply to a TV station using the product for inclusion in an Australian TV production about some air safety incidents?
Best,

Hey Geoffrey,

That sounds like a perfectly valid commercial use of the product to me, so I would say yes the $499 price would apply for that.

What about multichannel (namely 3 view) support

Beatle (Great to see you again!)
I was hoping that P3D might already have multichannel (assign a video card and core to an independent view - same database) support. I saw another post that just mentioned the phrase (multichannel) so I though I would ask. I had asked Mike Z to include that in ESP plans.
Haven't see you since we met at my research cockpit lab at Boeing Seattle - glad to see you're onboard!

Hey Dave,

We have Multi-channel support, which to us means multiple computers hooked up over a network all running as one system (so you could have a 4 computer setup where the master computer is doing all the simulating, handling AI objects, computing weather, maybe running some 2D panels, etc; and then you could have 3 slave computers running the left, center, and right video channels). This would of course require 4 seat licenses (more obviously if you wanted more video channels :-> ). This capability is in the version shipping now.

We also support 1 (or maybe 2) SDKs for doing the morphing to handle projecting multiple visual channels onto a dome display (I think you have to license that tech seperately from another company though).

We're also looking into providing ways to allow external sim engines to control the movement/orientation/etc of SimObjects via SimConnect (I was actually working on this when MS shut ACES down, hopefully will be resurrecting that code soon) - I seem to recall that was another of your feature requests when Mike and I came to visit your lab.
