• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Problems with SAMM 2102

I have just finished an ADE9 project (a rough work-in-progress version) of ERCO Field in Riverdale, Maryland, USA. You won't find it on any sectional less than 50 or 55 years old; it is the location and airfield where the Ercoupe was manufactured, tested, and sold. Most credit KCGS in College Park, Maryland as having that distinction, but it didn't. ERCO Field (as it was known) was about a half a mile to the south of KCGS, hence the confusion.

What I want to do is create about five or six “static Ercoupes” to line up in front of the small office and sales building adjacent to the manufacturing plant. I have downloaded the SAAM (and been upgraded to v.2102) to accomplish this task; however, I cannot get it respond properly.

1.) When I run the SAAM program it takes me to the page that allows me to select FS9, but FS9 is listed as a single folder with no sub folders; I cannot select "Aircraft\"desired aircraft" ".

2.) If I cut and paste the proper location (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Aircraft\”desired plane”), I get a message that says that "the model has no AI" and it will not allow me to go any further.

I know I must be doing something stupidly wrong, but I cannot figure out what it might be. Can anybody lead me to success??

System runs Windows XP sp2; Aircraft to convert is “ERCO415 Ercoupe 2Pilot. texture=NC94196” (an FS9 freeware plane by Kazunori Ito). Link is Flightsim.com, file is “erco_415.zip”

Thanks,

KCD

KCD, I'm away from my development system for a few more days, so can't test the aircraft. But, this problem has nothing to do with the aircraft.

If SAMM has been installed correctly, you should be able to click on the FS9 folder and it will expand. (Actually, the FS9 Aircraft folder should open automatically.)

I suggest you delete your current SAMM installation and reinstall 2.1.02.

The really troubling part is that I don't recall any error message in SAMM like the one you report you are receiving.

Will do as you suggest and advise. I'll also try to get you the exact wording of the error message I'm receiving. Be back with a report in a while

Don,

I re-installed SAMM2102 per your suggestion. The problem with the FS9 directory persists (it will not open the "Aircraft" folder) so that must be added manually along with the "Sim" name of the plane. Once those additions have been made, it works like a charm. I now have five shiny, new Ercoupes sitting on the parking area in front of the ERCO Office building adjacent to the plant.

I don't know what I was doing wrong, or if the first install was corrupt, but all is fine now.

Thanks for the suggestion; it worked.

KCD, please be more specific about "When I run the SAAM program it takes me to the page that allows me to select FS9,". SAMM doesn't "take you to a page", you tell SAMM where you want to go and that's where it (should) go.

I don't experience a similart problem on my development system.

What are you selecting/checking/entering/clicking?
