• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v4 ramp problem

I figure I am supposed to use hierarchy for this, but haven't much of a clue as to how. I get down to hiliting the ramp on the plane, which is stuck downward. There's front and back. Animation says spoiler. I'd like this thing to sty up and remain up in the Sim. If I hilite the animation word 'spoiler' and remove, the whole ramp disappears. How can I get this ramp in the back of the plane to stay in an up position. no animation for it. I imagine I would have to do the same to both sides of the part. There are also two legs.

See attachment file. Bob

Can you find a key in the animation where the ramp is retracted? Then you should freeze the spoller animation at that frame in the animation editor.

Hierarchy says ani is spoiler. I cannot find spoiler listed where I would select type of ani word containing... etc. This is outside the hierarchy tool. Within the hierarchy tool, I haven't learned enough as to what to do. And... as you can see, that ramp is not only down but twisted 90 degrees! haha

But if you move the animation slider is there a position where the ramp is retracted?

Humm, did you get user variables to set on import? Maybe it's a part with a visibility condition.

Like... set variables? Can't remember. but .... correction. The slider does move the ramp, but the ramp only slides sideways and tilts just a bit.

yes. I still have the original zip. yes, the model has 'set variables' box. see attachment. A friend tells me the ramp is aliased with tailhook. hmmmm.

It sounds like the ramp has been imported wrong from the mdl file. You could try to remove the animation in the hierarchy editor and then manipulate the transformation so that the object shows in the right location. But that will be a bit tricky to get right.

Sounds like a plan, but that is beyond my skills right now. ;) I will try, however. thanx for the ideas. Bob
