• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

SbuilderX elevation problem

Hi All,

I am trying to use SbuilderX and ADEX to modify the terrain around the airports.
I used Sbuilder for my FS9 airports with no problem but I can't get the terrain to vary in altitude with SbuilderX.
I draw the poly, modify every point of the poly, save and then compile. When I go into FSX nothing changes as far as the altitude goes. I know that it is compiling because I change the landclass to something way different and it shows up but I don't get any height changes.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Alan

Never mind, I fixed it myself. I knew there was a way using SBuilderX...
Just took me a little longer.

Why no reply

I have asked that question about the elevation using SbuilderX and I got no reply, not sure why they not helping newbes with this. I use AB_Flatten_MaskClassMap poly/s and I gave each vector it's altitude. I get the elevation but I also get sharp points which makes it look silly. So try that poly it might work for you.

Actually, without going to all that trouble, right click on the edge of the AB_Flatten, select "Set Altitude" and type in one time, select "set", then "OK" and you're done. Unless you're making a sloped poly, you don't have to set each point with an altitude, just the poly itself.

Hi all !
If you got sharp "little-so-nice pyramids" on the edge of your flatten poly, this is because there is another flatten beneath or your flatten in SBX interfere with the mesh you use. Try to enlarge a bit your flatten poly (not always easy with steep slopes, roads, canals, railroads ans so on).
SbuilderX has limited "flatten poly" functionalities with extra 4.75 meters meshes as I test (or I missed something ...). You could also try sloped -flatten polys but, as I tried, they don't look nice any times. It seems to depend on the terrain beneath.
My "noob" experience is modding UTX Europe to correct missing rivers and canals (and there is a lot of "holes"), "climbing rivers" even in flat lands and other surprises.
Sorry, it's time for diner
