• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Maybe that this is not the right place to post my idea but let me tell you:

I just downloaded Ray Smith' s version of CYVR Vancouver Intl from Scruffy Duck Download Center

Ray also featured de-icing trucks in his scenery. Some of them sit on a seperate car park and others are located on de-icing pads.

You will probably agree that de-icing trucks are very nice but might look a little displaced 'waiting for customers' all in the middle of summer.

Is there anybody in this community who can develop some sort of season editor? I think it would be great if these de-icing trucks would disappear with the last patches of snow melting in the sun of spring and re-appear somewhen in the late fall.

I hope that you like my idea.

btw.: It doesn' t have to be an editor. If you just modify the file for the trucks themselves I' d be very happy too - and I guess many other users!

Hi Jan,

Conditional display is difficult in FSX, in FS2004 it was a lot easier. Given that these objects are placed automatically by FS, I think the only way around this would be to make two versions of the BGL file that defines the airport and let the user switch them.

Thank you Arno - although your answer is not the one I favour ...

Maybe you can explain your ideas a bit more, although I am not sure if the scenery engine allows them.

Great that you got back to this topic once again!

Arno, my programming know-how is lightyears away from yours. But I think at least I have quite a logical approach to computer related issues - nothing more, nothing less.

Well - I thought, we do have seasonal changes in FSX. So there must be something which controls the run of the seasons. On the other hand we have scenery objects which generally can be suppressed by using a certain mode (sparse, normal, dense etc.)

As a result of that I considered the possibility of adding some sort of mode - maybe called 'seasonal' - to let objects temporarily appear and disappear from the scene. At the moment I can' t name any other ones as de-icing trucks and snow removal trucks. But yes, maybe also sailing boats - more likely an indication for warmer periods!

Naturally it is pretty easy creating two files of an airport, calling the one CYVR_win.bgl and the other CYVR_sum.bgl (to stick to the initially mentioned example) and just 'park' one of them for a certain period by changing the ending tag from 'bgl' to 'bgx'.

But I was looking for a smarter way ...

Thanks again!

You can do it with Annotator, however, you need seasonal phototextures.
