• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

slew mode animations

As far as I can tell, there's no model animation possible while in slew mode. I'm looking at adding gear-up / gear-down to my AI replay-in-slew-mode technique but not sure the best way to go about it. Any ideas?

I don't think sending an immediate slew-off/gear-up/slew-on actually has the desired effect.

Hey B21,

Exactly!, i already noticed that, during some tests few weeks ago. What i decided was, in creating a waypoint, with the actual, heading and some few meters ahead of the AI, then update the speed and then release and turn off SLEW, then check every certain time, until gears are down, then when all are down, turn on SLEW again, and continue driving the AI, i know it looks "ugly" but its the only way i see to it to work. The need of a waypoint is to keep the AI stable and flying to the desired direction or orientation during the transition of the gears animation...during those few seconds...if you dont set that waypoint..the AI will simply turn to the original heading where it was instructed during it's creation....i tested that with Traffic Tool Box, and when i move it with SLEW, then turn off SLEW the AI will tend to make a turn to keep the original heading that it had when it was first created, however, if you tell it to a waypoint during SLEW it must likly will keep the same heading (the last one) rather than "turnning somewhere else"....

However, in later tests, i noticed that if you move the AI in SLEW move it down to the ground (using KEY_AXIS_SLEW_ALT_SET, to a positive number, which means DESCEND), and then let it the AI to "touch" the ground with GEARS UP, the FSX itself pulls GEARS DOWN (under SLEW), but without the animation, it just set it ALL GEARS DOWN.....the problem is when you want the GEARs to "move" while the AI is AIRBORNE...

Best Regards,

Manuel

Thanks Manuel - very useful info which matches the clues I was getting. I'll plan something in this area for a later release of my program - switching in and out of SLEW mode isn't a trivial thing for me to do especially as I'm using gliders.
