Software for Mac

Hello all,

After reading many posts and collecting data for my scenery I am getting to the point that I want start making my scenery. Gmax is for Windows and I am working on a Apple MacBook Pro. I don't have Windows installed yet (so playing FS on my desktop) but I want to make my scenery on my macbook.

I found Cheetah 3D for making 3D objects, but I can't find any tutorials about modeling for FS(X). Does someone know if there are any tutorials for it or if there is other software that works on a Mac?

Kind regards,
Ruud

Hi,

You might want to give Google SketchUp a try. I think there is a Mac version of it available and you can use it to make objects for FS. (You would need ModelConverterX to convert them to FS MDL files, that will only run on Windows again).

I already tried Google Sketchup but I my eyes you won't get enough detail out of that. I found Cheetah and Blender for Mac.

With most modelling programs the problem is that the developer gets too much detail out of it, hurting the performance :).

SketchUp is not so good for aircraft, since they need a lot of special animations, etc. But for making scenery objects I think it is one of the easiest to learn programs. And you can do quite complex geometry with it as well.
