• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Squares instead of text

Hi,

I've installed FSXPlanner (and Java) but have some text display issues in various menus. For example, if I open the File..Find Airport option, the text in the resulting form (things like textbox labels and button labels) are all appearing as small squares rather than text.

I'm guessing it's some sort of font issue but am not sure how to resolve it.

Any ideas what's going on?

Thanks

Phil

Another person reported having this problem and it turned out to be associated with their JVM running on their machine. Once we get to final release we will offer a version that contains its own JVM to prevent this from happening.

For now you can try completely uninstalling all versions of Java from your machine and then redownloading the Java runtime from Sun's website here: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp - You want the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u1, which is the 4th option down the list.

Hi Russell,

I already did that but with no effect.

However I knew that it was working this morning so I did a system restore which has done the trick.

Strangely the only thing I'd installed today was the FSX SDK and SDK SP1a update. I've installed these again since the system restore and FSX Planner still works okay. Go figure!!

Thanks for your help.

Phil
