• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Just to let anyone who's interested know that my Static Aircraft .mdl Maker - SAMM (first mentioned a couple of weeks ago) is almost ready for general release.

If you'd like to take a final "kick at the cat", you can download it from here. Anyone who is using an earlier version of SAMM should get an update message automatically.

Should you find any problems/issues, please post them here.

I think I got carried away with this program. Here are a couple of shots at Davis Monthan

That looks great George!

My computer could not run a scenery like that though, it resents even the number of static aircraft that Orbx places in the Pacific Northwest airports.

Hi Mike,

My XP system with an 896MB GTX260 cannot handle it (BSOD) but my W7 system with a 1536MB GTX480 handles it with no problem.

Well George, I just looked up the price of the GTX480 in Canada and it costs more than my whole computer cost to build! Something tells me my poor little power supply wouldn't cut it either.

Version 12 updated to 12a (minor improvements in library creation).

Download from here. Auto-update will also detect it.

Hahahahaha!
Ya' Think?
Now that is something you don't see every day!
Those shots are true works of Flight Simulator art which show what is possible with SAMM, whether a user is going to be able to fly there or not.

Since way back in the Rwy12 development days, I have had places where I fly, and places where I build, and over the years the one thing missing was a wide variety of aircraft to spruce-up the sceneries I built which were probably already making flights into a slideshow, even without static aircraft.

Most detailed airport sceneries are going to kill frame rates anyways, so placing a bunch of highly detailed static aircraft is not going to matter much, we will just need more flight simulator cars to drive around in at the airports.
Besides, all one has to do is re-name the scenery .bgl with the static aircraft and all of the static aircraft go poof!

With SAMM, I think we will see some amazing screenshots which will give flight simulator users the tools to create works of art such as these awesome screenshots posted by George.

Nice work Mate

Cheers
Gary

That seems like an interesting test case to see the effects of drawcall batching on the performance :).
