• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Can SAMM convert AI a/c to static scenery files. I ask cos I have tried it and I seem to get strange results with the LODS. The a/c will appear but when you move further away it will appear as either a streak of colour or rather disasembled.

Yes, this works. I did it like this in my freeware update for Aerosoft's Luxembourg Airports with the Ready for Pushback 747-200 in Tesis colors. (I got the "Go" from the original makers, no worries) (available on avsim.com and flightsim.com.

Simply open your aircraft with Static AI Model Maker and select all the options you want.
I only selected for "my" static model:
Animations Included: AUTO
Thrust Reversers: CHECKED
(and I think Suppress Shadow: CHECKED)

You said that you have a LOD problem, so I would recommend you to look if besides "Select Aircraft Title" that "Has LODs" is activated or not.

Then click on "Save .mdl file".
Now you have two ways to place your static aircraft.
Click on "Save .bgl file", where you can give the exact position, height,.. of the aircraft and then it will be compiled and you will get a .BGL file out of it, which you can share. But don't forget to have the rights to release the static airplane and don't forget to add the textures to airplane.
OR
Click on "Make library", save it and place the static airplane where you want into FS.

Thanks for the reply but sorry you have lost me. Firstly you state you are using the Pushback 747-200 and that is not an AI aircraft and secondly
You said that you have a LOD problem, so I would recommend you to look if besides "Select Aircraft Title" that "Has LODs" is activated or not.
I havent anything like that

You know that an AI airplane can also be a a flyable airplane?
(And static AI model maker doesn't pay attention to this!)
However as you mention AI there it comes back. LOD's. Normally AI modeller use this sort of "doing" their airplanes to save performance if you have a lot of models installed, then those which are far away and which you will surely not look as detailed as if it stands in front of you.

I just downloaded the new version of SAAM. Sorry had V 1.1.0.0 or something like this.

Just click on the bottom on the settings the LOD to the highest (or maybe the second highest) LOD number. Then it should work..
