Hello gents!
I had a question. I am now making this Spreadsheet here trying to gather and categorize all the guides and tutorials I found and will find on the web.
docs.google.com
Going through them and many videos, I noticed one thing. We really lack of some information for processing which is present in the Blender2MSFS.
For instance, what's all the other Material types other than "MSFS standard" and what are some usage examples for them?
Or again, how do you set up a parallax texture to be MSFS Ready?
How do we correctly import animations for, let's say, a windmill?
I know the Blender2MSFS devs are busy with IRL and plugin business, and I am not asking them to put more than the already huge effort they already are putting in it, but what I see the most compared to other Flight Simulator episodes is in the community itself where the information seems to be spread mostly via volatile methods like Discord or Reddit.
This place is a sancta sanctorum for Flight Sim modders / developers, I think that ALL the information around should be taken here and pinned in each sub channel related to MSFS.
Other than this, I'd really like to see the subjects above explained from someone who can contribute for us "modding newbies" to the Blender2MSFS documentation of a parallel documentation which explains with a few examples all of the features of the exporter which can be achieved within the sim.
I am really trying hard to make my sceneries look as good as I would but most of times I encounter huge cliffs I don't have the skill to climb on, an many others like me. Consider I ain't a pro, I am no developer, but I am not just a dummy dude who doesn't put effort. I did a lot and learnt a lot out of multiple places using the tutorials I found and indicated in that spreadsheet, but that's just the top of the iceberg. We all starve for technical growth and we really starve for a clear explanation of what we could achieve and how, using a few examples, and giving us room to make mistakes and contribute to the information about the SDK and MSFS Modding itself.
Hoping that something good comes out of this small but big consideration and thoughts, I am really looking forward to the most talented modders and pioneers out there to explain to us newbies what ccan be achieved with the feature we have hidden in front of our eyes and which are not just enough known and easy to understand at first, as it was for the first models importing.
Take care pilots, you all opened up a giant world to me, for me to discover it and I really want to
