• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Thanks :) unfortunately, baking messes my textures, they are stretched or whatever :/
any help is more than welcome :) I never baked textures in my life (Kourou and Kourou v2 are simple textures) As Wallis & Futuna is a place I know, I want to make it good (or as best as I can)

This looks much better! Which program are you using now? There are great tutorials from Austin Sass on Youtube and after that it is very easy to bake those textures.

Hi David, thanks for kind words, I never changed from sketchup, the renders were mades with SimLab Composer :) (Trial version)

Hi, are you still working on this project? It looks great so far and I´d really love to see the final scenery. It would be a great addition for my Samoan Air Hauler 2 company.

Best regards, Fabian

Hey thanks for your interrest, there is new Flight Reports on these destinations, with pictures, so I will soon come back in this project :)

Hi all :),
Good News:
-I slowly getting motivation back on this project
-I found new pictures (Flight Report) for Both Wallis Hihifo and Futuna Vele airports
-I plan making it for FSX, P3D and .... FS20 (yes, I just added it in case I have success completing my project)

Bad News:
-According to the newly found pictures, both airborts has Changed (New colors, new buildings etc)
-I noticed that I'm wrong with some details that I'll have to redo
-There still missing Hihifo's Hangars, Tower and other important buildings)
-I still don't have Apron markings details I need

To be honest, I'd probably stick with the original airport layout you already have. Airports get extended all the time, if you want to keep up with that you'll have to start over and over again and never get it done. Even professional developers like ORBX consider their airport sceneries to be snapshots in time and rarely update them even if new terminals and runway extensions are built.
Considering minor mistakes in modeling, I think it's almost impossible to get every detail right without reference photos specifically taken with modeling in mind, from all sides with perfect lighting at perfectly straight angles. Most people will not know the airport first hand and won't notice minor errors, and a slightly flawed airport scenery that actually gets released someday is still better than no airport at all. After all it's freeware and your preview shots already look really good. I think if you capture the general atmosphere of the exotic setting of your scenery it's more than enough. I just started work on a scenery for a tiny island airfield quite close to your own project and the only reference material that I have is a blurry photo of the airfield building and two YouTube videos where you can see the buildings for a fraction of a second. So the final scenery will largely be based on my imagination, but I think that's still better than what there is now, which is, err, nothing.

So keep up the good work and don't get discouraged!

Cheers, Fabian

Hey Fabian :) thanks for kind words :)
you are right, nobody know Wallis & Futuna, so minor details are useless etc, but the reason I'm obsessed with those islands is that I used to live there. Part of the dadas I use are memories.
Thank a lot for your interrest :)

Marc
