• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Wind T for fs9

I have built one in FSDS 3.5, but animating it is difficult. I tried to use MDL tweaker to do this, but it won't turn/move. And yes I placed two of them as described in MDL Tweaker. I have put the tweaked files in a library and then used ADE to put them in place.
I know Cal Classics has a few in the Static Objects Library, but I'm looking for something like this. It's for a version of Schiphol 1938-40

Thanks in advance!

Did you use CAT or MDLTweaker? It's a long time ago I made those tools :)

There have been some issues in the past that GMax and FSDS output were slightly different and the tools are mainly tested on GMax in the past. So if you can share the MDL tweaker output I can try to have a look.

I used the MDL tweaker! Thanks in advance for taking a look! It is not the finished model, but a dummy I made for test purposes.

Can you also share the not tweaked one, so I can compare them?

Ok, thanks, I'll try to check them tonight.

Hi Cees,

I am afraid the MDL Tweaker function to rotate with the wind only works on GMax generated MDL files. I just tried it with your file here and it does not work indeed. When I made a small test object in GMax it did work directly.

What might work for FSDS objects is to tweak the ASM code of the MDL file manually. On the wiki it is explained how. If this is the only object you need to rotate with the wind I can probably do it for you as well.

I'm always eager to learn. If I don't succeed I'll ask for help. Thank you for taking the time to look into this.
