• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Is it possible to create a line that is anchored in one spot but can grow as the value changes?

For my hover gauge when the aircraft has reached 20 knots forward speed, the dot moves towards the top of the gauge. Can I create a line that grows as the dot moves but stays ancchored at the center of the gauge, so no matter where the dot is on the gauge there will be a line that connects to the center?

You will need to be more specific as to version of FS.

In FS9 XML schema the answer is no, but there are workarounds.

In FSX XML schema the answer is yes. Check the SDK for information.

It is for FSX, Ill look...can you narrow down what keywords i should look for in the SDK? Thanks!

Rectangle Objects
Rectangle objects are used to draw rectangles as part of the gauge.

You can draw a rectangle with a width of maybe 2 pixels, and then write a script expression that will vary the "height" by a variable number of pixels...

<WidthScript> Optional script to calculate the width of the rectangle, overriding Width.

<HeightScript> Optional script to calculate the height of the rectangle, overriding Height.

well, ok...this is what I tried and nothing showed up.

Code:
<SimGauge.Rectangle id="Rectangle">
    <Axis>256.000,256.000</Axis>
    <LineWidth>10</LineWidth>
    <Bright>True</Bright>
    <Width>20</Width>
    <WidthScript>(A:VELOCITY BODY X, knots)</WidthScript>
    <Height>20</Height>
    <HeightScript>(A:VELOCITY BODY Z, knots)</HeightScript>
    <LineColorScript>&apos;White&apos;</LineColorScript>
</SimGauge.Rectangle>

Im just not smart enough to create a smart code. Right now I am expiermenting with a rotation script and mask image. We will see if it works!
