• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I have got all the texturing to work now, the only problem I have which to be honest is odd, is getting my Glider to show in FS9. Rather than mess about with the .xml file I simply create an mdl file and send it to a folder where all the SDK stuff is (BGLcomp/Makemdl). I then open the xml, change what I want and drag the xml over the bgl comp, producing my bgl file. This where it gets odd.

If I copy the bgl into the Addon Scenery/scenery folder my object appears in FS9 perfect, right place, all textures.

If I copy it into a specific sub folder I have in Addon Scenery:-

Bidford
Scenery

Nothing appears, the only thing that is different between the 2 scenery folders is that in the Addon Scenery/scenery folder I have all the sdk stuff and the xml etc, IN the Bidford/scenery folder I only have bgl's for the scenery I want,I didn't think you needed any more than that.

Don't suppose anyone has come across this before?

The subfolder is part of a main folder from Addon Scenery...that sounds confusing

I have got my Bidford folder with lots of other stuff contained within both scenery and textures

Bidford
............Scenery
............Textures

Everything else shows up fine, all the stuff I have built in Gmax etc, but this just won't show

Even if main folder is added to scenery library you have to add each subfolder containing Texture and/or Scenery folders. But if you have another stuff in same folder (Bidford\Scenery) and it shows up in FS there is probably another case. Anyway check if you have Bidford area listed in the scenery library. If yes you may have exclusion rectangle defined for this specific area in another BGL with higher priority.

Well this one has got me puzzled, the object just will not show if I put the various elements in the Scenery/Texture folder of anything other than the root Addon scenery, scenery/texture folder. I have moved the particular folder (Bidford Gliding centre) right to the top of the scenery list but still nothing.

Any other ideas out there?

Hi,

That is really weird. If you have it at the top of the scenery library, you should not have any excludes influencing your scenery. So it show just like it does in any other scenery folder.

Are you sure you are not having trouble with a missing object library or so?

I don't think so Arno, I simply create my .mdl from FSDS and extract it straight to a working folder with all the sdk stuff. I then do any tweaking on the xms as I would with Gmax, create my bgl and copy it to the relevent scenery folder, in this case the one from the root Addon Scenery. I have loaded FS9 up with it there...bingo. Close FS9 and copy the bgl's and texture to the relevent scenery/texture folders under Bidford..nothing. I can't see as anything would be corrupt in the bgl as it wouldn't show at all...would it

Can you post the BGL you created, so that we could try to load it in our FS as well?

If the file is not that big you can attach it to your post, or else you can also mail it to me.

Okay Arno here goes, I tried the textures but for some reason they will not upload?

They are probably too big, as I had to restrict the filesize as the webspace is not unlimited :).

Where is your object located (lat/lon)? Then I can try it here in different folders. That I have no textures does not matter, I should be able to see if the objects appears or not.

Hi,

I decompiled your .bgl and placed the glider at Manston airport via my Manston scenery folder, a subfolder of my addon scenery folder, no probs.

Now I am confused? the scenery I have been trying to place it into is called Bidford Gliding Centre. I put it together last year and is on Avsim or Flightsim. It will only work with VFR photographic though. although thinking about it there is only a flatten so it may work (no excludes though) I am hoping to update it with all my own stuff (such as gliders).

Hi Paul,

Try putting this .bgl in your Bidford scenery folder, hopefully you will see your glider infront of the hangar. If you have your textures installed you may see these too.

ok, now I know it worked, here's what I found.

When I decompiled your .bgl to place it myself, I just entered my own co-ords, so I didn't spot your deliberate mistake at first ;) When I downloaded your Bidford scenery, I found MS hasn't got it as default, so I slewed over to Bidford from gloucester.

It was then that I noticed that the latitude in your DG202_Fred.bgl seemed not to be quite on the airfield, but the longtitude was over the other side of the world so to speak. The longtitude reference for West co-ords needs to be an East co-ord with a minus value, so in your case, the E001*..... longtitudinal co-ord should read E-1*.....This will give you a W001 co-ord.

I can't guarantee the accuracy of the above statement, but that's all I did to it.

Glad to be of service Paul. :D
