• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Some questions

1. I understand that there has to be a separate texture for night/day and the seasons, right? Is there a good tutorial on how to make these from a base one and which category they go into?

2. When doing taxi signs, do you create the texture yourself, outsource it, or is there a site to use? Tutorials would be very helpful.

3. Similar to taxi signs, is there something for creating the T markers at gates (the marker with different stopping points)?

Thanks for any help.

When you say night textures you mean painting them not assgin them in gmax, right?, yes I had difficulties too, you are not going to find any tutorial, but here in fsdeveloper you can find some advices, in phtoshop there effects you can apply to the textures (renders>lighting effects), you can to apply exposure and darken them as well, or paint directly over the texture, or use the "brightness and contrast, etc. it is like painting.
you can try to find marking in the net. but you can do them it's no so difficult, the lines (taxiways and runways) is just a color applied the the planes.

Which version of fs are you working with?

Seasonal textures do not work on fsx objects, but for Fs2004 you can tweak the output to use them.

Most developers will make their own textures, so that the real world situation is represented as good as possible.

Photoshop isn't an option for me. I'm currently using Paint.Net. And yes, painting/creating the textures. Applying them is fairly easy.

I'm using FSX.
