• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Düsseldorf Airport

Hi Stan!
First of all I'd like to thank you for the compliment and may I say great username! :)
I recently flew in and out of Düsseldorf and took numerous pictures of things I noticed I had misjudged or missed altogether before, I will be working on fixing these things for a while before again trying to see what I need to adjust.
These things for example include the roof on the Cargo Terminal which looks a lot different in real-life. People who regularly visit the airport can probably see or recognize more details so I'd appreciate your input and images.

I'll be back with another update soon.

Hi F747fly,

finally I found some time to edit photos I took from "P7"'s rooftop a week ago. Maybe these pictures could help to judge some details right.
If you say that they are helpful for your work, I'll take more pictures of this "style".

In addition, if you need more information right from the apron, I could get info from a good friend who is working for a local ground handling company.

Btw, picture size is 3000x2000 and between 2-3mb each.

I hope to see new material from you soon!

thank you Stan, some brilliant pictures you've got there! May I ask when they were taken, I might have some pictures from the other side of the AA 767 ;)
I haven't been able to implement all of the things you've posted or the things I already noticed but here's some progress at least:

A part you've shown aswell ;)

And a part I've noticed... a bit poly-dense but that's what the roof looks like.

Hey F747fly,

I'm glad to hear that you like the pictures. I took those on June 11, 2016 which was a saturday.

Actually, I've never really noticed this interesting design of the roof. But it's pleasing that you noticed this detail. I'm no scenery designer but I like those details. Keep it up and take the time you need. :) *thumbs up*

In the meantime I checked my photo library and uploaded some pics that might be helpful. You can find these under the following dropbox link. The photos are sorted by the date they were taken, in case you wonder.

Take care,
Stan

Soo forgive me F747fly but how did you create those roof arches? Can you please drop a few hints? Thank you!

I love the detail too. I cannot figure out how to do that roof with less detail than what you did. Good job!
However, when you map the texture to those wavy roof, it could be a hard job. Is is easier to map the texture before cloning each one? Not sure either, just my thought.

Thank you all for the kind words!

@Stan The Man you really earn your nickname with those images, thank you!

@Severin I simply make the shape I want, which is kinda like a banana or something, with reference from an image I made while taxiing over the apron and extrude it. Then I use an array modifier to get them cloned...

@Holgi thank you very much!

@jtanabodee well I haven't rrally thought that part through yet, mapping will probably be a combination of using some texture parts multiple times and some parts need single use texture-parts, most certainly from the top view...

Aha,interesting,thank you :D

Hey F747 :)
I wonder if you plan to animate the skytrain and airort vehicle on the airports? :) if so, I will need a tutorial later :P

what do you mean? files were damaged??

Noo... Just messy meshes, got new ideas/thoughts to work with which do actually improve stuff (mostly from a developers ease of work perspective). But i'll have to find the time and will to do it all over again...
