• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v3 work in progress ...KDAY

Looks great but are you sure your beta testers have not found anything anymore to complain about???
Because when you think that everything is OK, they suddenly come up with some quirk or some part of the scenery you have not taken into account because no one would go there except them and then tell you you should remedy that. And then you screw up something else doing that, etc.!
And if they do not come up with that kind of stuff then you probably do not have good beta testers:).

Cheers,

YES, That is so true, 3 or 4 month delay with Tarkio before its release due to issues :/

Hi,
I dont have any plans to make it for fs9 - as for myself I dont really use FSX anymore, finding that P3D has made simming a better experience #1 by eliminating the Crash to Desktop, that has happened so often and wasted many hours of flight time. So it is going to be for FSX and P3D only (so far)
I wanted to show some progress, as I have been working 80% of my time now dedicated to finishing this up and moving on. WOW what a learning experience it has been! I wanted to create an airport here with the highest level of realism i could produce. I am finishing up the main terminals at this point. I will post more when significant progress is made.

Hi, I will be adding AO to it somewhere in the future, but these shots dont have any baking.
I'd like to concentrate/work with the art side of it first and then add effects later.
here's a few more shots.

If you are using images from the USGS database.....you bet it has to be freeware. ;-)

Hope that helps your decision.

I would not be so sure about that assertion; use of USGS-distributed aerial imagery is requested (but not 'required') to be accompanied by a "credit" of the USGS as a data source. :alert:

AFAIK, USGS does not prohibit their distributed aerial imagery or elevation data (in a derived / converted form such as may be utilized in FS scenery) from being used in a ex: FS add-on type of commercial product.

Like many data sources, USGS more likely does not want anyone selling their data in a "re-packaged" or "segmented" format. ;)

Its been debated to death.....it comes down to your personal interpretation of copyrights.

I agree that there has indeed been considerable debate over terms of use for various aerial imagery data sources, and that one must be certain as to permission for use of such source data before it is utilized in either freeware or payware FS products.

However, I believe it is important to refer to available online documentation, and not to infer conclusions from incomplete and non-specific information of a general nature, in order to avoid uncertainty regarding USGS' terms of use, as IMHO, permission to use USGS source data requires no "personal interpretation of copyrights" ...if one is not selling it as a 'source data' product: :pushpin:

I interpret that as don't ask don't tell.

Possibly you might be wondering about this:

https://www2.usgs.gov/visual-id/credit_usgs.html

"Acknowledging or Crediting USGS as Information Source
Revised May 10, 2006

Most U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) information resides in the public domain and may be used without restriction. When using information from USGS information products, publications, or Web sites, we ask that proper credit be given. Acknowledging or crediting the USGS as an information source can be provided by including a line of text citation such as those shown below. Note that some non USGS photographs, images, and/or graphics are used by the USGS with permission from the copyright holder. To use these copyrighted materials, you must obtain permission from the copyright holder under the copyright law."

Although it is more likely that USGS will clearly identify exactly what parts of any data source are "non-USGS" and subject to a 3rd party copyright covenant, anyone who is 'un-certain' about what they read in USGS documentation for a particular data source on the pertinent web page and/or in the accompanying Metadata file(s) ...do have the option to contact the USGS directly to seek answers to questions < NOTE: do not hold your breath while waiting for a reply from them >. ;)

I believe that most FSDevelopers may interpret the above information differently than you have, and I am inclined to expect we will see an abundance of custom scenery made with USGS elevation and aerial imagery source data in the coming year.

Here's hoping that you, (and the OP for this thread, who may wish to showcase his work and explore his further options in this forum without further digression on "perceived" copyright issues that IMHO, would otherwise discourage his use of public domain data sources ) ...both have a productive and Happy New Year. :santahat:

GaryGB

Out of curiosity, I am new to this forum and have seen many amazing sceneries... Is there a particular place to look to download them cause its really hard to find a link.

Will this scenery be posted on avsim or something?
