• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

OrbX LOWI, ESGG... Ground Fix- The fix that works everywhere in Prepar3D v5

OrbX still brooding, and so I also to this day. But today I found out why in LOWI and other places the ground is flicking or not visible, or blurred. Coincidence or maybe work and brains?
What do I do with the knowledge? I really have to think about that this time. And this has several reasons

But here the proof video

I'll be sure to disclose that. But so many people have already insulted me because I have my own opinion that I don't do this immediately.

OrbX anyway, I will not serve the solution on a tray to earn money, because there I am still banned at the request of a single gentleman.
Please understand that I am only demonstrating it at the moment.

I have patched three airports, LOWI is one of them, and they all work correctly.

Developers who are interested can send me a mail on my website.

...because simmershome.de is already overflowing with the traffic..? Anyway, from here in the outspoken USA, we support your right to peacefully protest and I get it, because people are constantly insulting me before I open my mouth, but to be frank, the entire affair seems a bit more like a riot!

the entire affair seems a bit more like a riot!
..can be. :)
but Orbx is hoping the HF2 will take care of it... and just wait.
Because I know what's causing it, I don't think the HF2 will fix it.
But I'll just wait for the HF2 to get here.
LM would have to change something in the terrain treatment of the stockim. Will they do that?
Anyway, it would be easier if OrbX would change something in its method. It takes no more than 10 minutes and it's fixed.
I spent two days at my own airport struggling with the problem until the idea came to me. It's 100% SDK compliant. Then I tried it on OrbX and it works there, too.

One hint, though. It occurs only at airports, where in the terrain of the Stocksim and also real the one runway threshold has a diffrent elevation to the other. In LOWI you have in real at the RWY 08 1906ft and at the RWY 26 1894ft. The rest consists of reflection.
Most of you will never have this problem, but OrbX needs to change something fundamental for Prepar3D v5 airports

Well, I spend most of my time as a nobody finding the right files. Then it takes 5 minutes

Here ESGG before

ESGG after

By the weekend, word will have got around and OrbX will have to wait. Anyway, LM doesn't have to change anything. At the weekend there's the public solution of the puzzle and the patches in my filebase. I like to drink coffee (yes I am modest...sometimes):)

... Feel free to forward this to OrbX, but I can't.

Here is the right thread for this

...that's what happens when you lock someone out of blind rage. Otherwise she would already have many solutions in her forum. Not "noted" often or only.

interesting, I have the same problem with my airport I'm working on in V5
what is the workflow to solve the problem?
I will publish this next weekend. Please allow me the fun to read one more week on OrbX, LM would fix it....... maybe. There is nothing to fix on the sim. You just have to adapt old habits to Prpeapr3D v5 and not want to sell addons "one for all Sims". I have learned a lot here and I am grateful that this forum exists. That's why I won't keep it a secret, although in the case of OrbX I have many reasons to do so

This is very interesting. If I understand correctly, the groundpoly (or parts of it) disappear at certain angles? I've seen the same happen at some airports in P3Dv4 (I don't have v5 yet). Would it be the same issue as you identified here, or is this something different?

In Prepar3Dv4 I had the problem in Malta. There it was because of the ARP. After I had moved this, it did not occur any more. But that can have many reasons. In v5 there are differences.

I see, thanks for the answer. Could you just tell me what an "ARP" is? :p
I'm currently having this problem with the groundpoly of an airprot I'm working on, but have zero experience figuring out what causes it, so any hint whatsoever is appreciated. (Though I must just create a new thread to ask about it, unless something like that already exists?)
At any rate, I look forward to seeing the fix you mention, whenever you decide to publish it.

Instead of some teaser video and screenshots it would be more helpful to other developers indeed to just share the approach you used. That's what we generally do here on FSDeveloper.

And it might also be something that I could add to the GPW of ModelConverterX, depending on what your solution is of course.

well, that not very helpful, for me, a single developer how work on a freeware airport it could be very useful, I find that lot of my time is wasted on debugging and your solution could help me.

Arno, I'm sorry, but after this reaction from OrbX, I'm not going to post anything more on the subject. The thread can be deleted if desired

I will personally send you a conversation on the weekend and explain how easy it is to fix, including the causes. Or I write a general article here. But my English is too bad to describe it exactly.
Anyway, I have no desire to get into a legal dispute with OrbX. Just sad. They use all free tools of the FS development, which you can find here

I have never breach the EULA from OrbX, not today , not before. So you have to look until you find it yourself.

In my opinion, Rainer has not only nothing of value to contribute here, but instead has used this forum for his own selfish agenda to flame a respected commercial developer and complement himself on his relative success. Everyone knows, except Rainer, that end users are not allowed to reverse engineer, or modify files. After repeated attempts to coerce this guy into some sort of positive exchange, I'd prefer to forget he's been here.

I'm closing this thread now as the reactions are no longer on topic and are becoming personal.
