Greetings. As the title says the troubles never cease when trying to use programs for making stuff. I can't use Blender because the materials won't assign to the object, and in my previous post there is no way to "auto-create" SODE jetways. Sketchup won't let me put in specific dimensions. Gmax keeps telling me "Failed to find FSX gamepack". I'd really prefer to use Gmax because it has the most capabilities I require. Can someone please help me? Thanks in advance.
Skyhog1 modeling programs background
After modeling with a 3d gui became possible there were competitors offering both payware and freeware tools on the market. Fsdesign studio was an early low cost tool while the payware the pros used was the expensive 3dsmax.
Then the producer of 3dsmax (discreet) enacted a strategy for increasing its user base by letting gaming self train by offering a FREE version of 3dsmax 4 (however severely and clumsily modified creating legendary bugs).
Still, who's to complain about free, and it was far better tool than fsstudio.
But some brainy folks saw that gmax, after just one major update, would soon be abandoned, started a project called blender. In a fashion, this development was reminiscent of the effort to put together a freeware as good as photoshops named gimp.
Blender is constantly updated and should be as good as max itself. I cant swear cuz I became a 3dsmax user.
But 3dsmax is not something I'd recommend.
So when a blender guy asks if your kidding when you say you prefer max is because your basically comparing technology of 2004 over technology of 2020 to design for today's sim.
Sounds funny to the old guys, but we sure sounded funny to somebody when we got started so dot worry about it.
Download blender, start learning, and be patient. If materials "dont load" learn via reading or tutorials how to apply materials. My advice is based on max, but u may need to apply a uv map on your object before applied maps may appear.
But you dont let something like that make you discard the modern tool for the ancient one.
