• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Link Taxiways to Parking spots - How? -(SOLVED)

Hi all, its late again and I may be missing something, but how do you link a taxiway to aircraft parking spot? I've tried all manner of clicks and ctrl keys, but it doesn't seem to take.

If I'm doing it correctly you have to select the "dot" at the end of the taxiway where you want to link and also select the parking spot. You can select multiple items holding CTRL. Once both are selected click with the right mouse button and a menu appears. From there there is an option to join the lines, create a line, something like that.

I was about to post that this process is somewhat erratic, but I have been attributting that to running MSFS (and the SDK) at 4K resolution, which sometimes makes it harder to both see and select objects.

So... After some sleep...
1. Place you TaxiwayParking area.
2. In Objects, select TaxiwayPoint (normal)
3. With the TaxiwayParking area selected (highlighted in white) go to the objects dialogue and place a check next to "One-Click placing"
4. Next place a spot next to your parking area. You should see a green line extend from the parking area to your new spot.
5. Go back to the objects dialogue and un-check "One-Click placing"

You should now be able to connect other taxiways etc to the new spot in the usual way (merging points together etc)

When I managed to select the 2 points I need, I get the right results, the problem is sometimes I cannot select the correct point, for example, clicking on a point would select a projectedmesh of the airport ground which has a large radius, so it can be a bit of a pickle in that way.

By folding the hierarchy of the type of item that you don't want to click by accident (mesh, apron, etc.), it is easier to click on the target.

How can I fix the rotation? There is no way to see it when making the parking spot, I can just set a number... Do I have to guess it??

That’s the tricky bit. The only way I found to do it was to tick the box to draw centreline. This then drew the T on the ground and I was able to rotate it and see which way round it was.

I’m out at the moment, but from memory it’s one of the options on the taxi link properties. I’ll check later when I am at home and post a screenshot.

So I select the line into the parking spot and in properties check - Center Line. This puts the T marking in the parking spot. You can then select the parking spot and rotate it with gizmo until the T is the way you want it. Then go back to the line into the parking spot and remove the check (unless you want to see it of course).

Hope that helps.
