• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    P3D v4 ADE & P3Dv4

I don't know what necessarily would be needed to update for V4 other than using the P3D v4 Addons directory and making an add-on.xml file with the applicable entries, but during setup you point at the bglcomp and other tools necessary from the various sdks.

    FSX Airport Elevation Problem

Have not run into that myself, but try this: Create a polygon (green blob above viewport) and outline your airport (usually where the fence would be) and double click the last point you need to add. In the next window, select AIRPORT BACKGROUND in the top box and FLATTEN EXCLUDE AUTOGEN or any...

    Runway Edge Pavement

The markings in real world and based on the generic template FS uses will probably never match up perfectly. Look at the Runway Threshold markings...6 instead of 10...since I wanted my runway to be more actual-looking, I have gone and made my runway 0' wide and hidden all the lights from the...

    1.66.5555 Nudge?

All is well and working again. Just a reminder, if you don't have a pro-key, you're wasting your time. The pro-key is AWESOMESAUCE and well worth the money for the time-saving features it brings.

    1.66.5555 Nudge?

Aw crap...forgot to install it...lol...put in new SSD with new OS and all, but forgot to grab my pro-key from my install backup folder on my 5TB backup drive... Thanks for the quick response.

    1.66.5555 Nudge?

I remember seeing in 1.65 a Nudge with a value next to it that using N and Shift N would modify. That seems to be missing and now using Alt and arrows does nothing to nudge the selected items. Ctrl Arrows modifies the helper height/width as it should. Using the N and Shift N commands does not...

    AFLT3 Final Beta Release Posted

When using AFLT as a new installation, I tried making a simple Taxi light (omni-blue). When I go to click MAKE LIBRARY the following screen has the normal parts at the top, but the bottom (path boxes) are all disabled, including the SELECT buttons at the side that, presumably you'd use to...

    Restoring Stock Airport

Making an airport doesn't overwrite the default airport, but instead is laid on top of the default. FS will read the default data, then add the new airport BGL data to the existing airport. The first thing ADE does when editing an airport is make exclusion rectangles for the existing default...

Suggestions for Improvements to User Experience

Maybe a command line switch to determine FS to work with, allowing different desktop links like "c:\MSFS\FS Design Tools\ADE\ADE.exe -FSX" or -FS9 -P3D -P32 as well.

    About Design

In FSX, you should have an Addon Scenery folder, then inside that a folder for your airport, then a Scenery and Texture folder. The BGL file goes in the Scenery folder and texture goes in the Texture folder (make sure its spelled TEXTURE as any other letters - TEXTURES, TEXTRE, etc) will not...

    About Design

In ADE, you can place a model (it will ask you to locate the mdl file) and then you compile the airport in ADE to get the BGL file you need.

    About Design

The MDL is placed using a tool like airport design editor or SBuilderX and compiled into a BGL (scenery) file with the positioning information for where the model is supposed to display.

Suggestions for Improvements to User Experience

It's hard to think of much that is desparately needing attention as ADE is very well done, but here's a few ideas I came up with. Selection rectangle matching rotation angle of viewport instead of 0 degree orientation. Moving selected objects currently requires the R key to be maintained...

    Aircraft symbol drifting.

Sounds like you may be "tracing" the airport the hard way...take a look at the following videos to see how I do it...it might make some things easier for you...
