• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v4 Ground poly base image vs ground poly airport

@GaryGB this is going to make me look bad, but I had no idea there were tools inside ADE. I mean I know I can change airport reference data, but I wasn’t aware Don had tools in ADE as well. I know I can import images with the coordinates from FSET and SBX. Your reply (#9) has given me a lot to...

P3D v4 Ground poly base image vs ground poly airport

@Tim Collins I definitely could’ve picked an easier airport for my first attempt. I thought using the same image I used in Blender would fit better. It isn’t the best quality. Is there a better source for satellite images? Two questions for you. First, my GP-based airport should sit above the...

P3D v4 Ground poly base image vs ground poly airport

Pixel count for my satellite image: 8930px x 5080px. If you have an optional alternative and the time, I’m open to any suggestions. Thanks Gary.

P3D v4 Ground poly base image vs ground poly airport

Yes, PHNL - Honolulu. Forgot that an airforce brace is also part of it. A little more work to do, but I’m getting very good at making taxi lines. Airport layout has changed a little bit since FSX/P3D, just trying to bring it up to date. Textures are custom - not default. I don’t know if this...

P3D v4 Ground poly base image vs ground poly airport

@GaryGB thank you for the response. I wish there was a method to my madness. Most of what I do I copied from YouTube tutorials. Bill Womack has a series of videos on how to make airport sceneries. They are a few years old, but easy to follow. They do miss out on some steps, but through trial and...

P3D v4 Ground poly base image vs ground poly airport

Good evening. Not really sure the best way to describe what I’m trying to say. I have put together a ground poly of runways, taxiways, and aprons (airport diagram). I have pretty much figured that out - for now anyway. I also have an image that I want to use that covers the immediate area...

P3D v4 Ground Polygon Wizard not cutting up into small pieces

Hello, I think I'm finally getting somewhere. I've been trying to create a ground poly for MWCR. Not quite perfect yet, but things are showing in the sim. I have a question about the GPW. When I check the box for slice polygons and click on convert, I'm not getting a bgl the has multiple images...

P3D v4 Blender to MCX to P3D am I missing something?

Good afternoon, Finally getting my head around making ground polys. I've made a relatively simple one using Blender 2.79. I've exported it as a collada final. Used MCX to convert to a mdl and then a .bgl (not sure why really) and then used the ground poly wizard to set location and elevation...

    P3D v4 Blender Issue - can't make a solid object

This is what I get when I try to make a polygon: I've tried using the snap to surface function, but it seems to attach it to the opposite side only.

    P3D v4 Blender Issue - can't make a solid object

Good afternoon, Pretty sure that my subject line doesn't quite say what I want it to. I've been following Bill Womack's tutorial on making ground polys. I'm using Blender 2.79 as that what he used in those videos. When I try to trace the apron using vertices, everything seems okay until I...

P3D v4 Question About Ground Polygons

@GaryGB my mistake. It’s still freeware, but not Avsim. I found it here: https://www.onfinal.dk/ekrk.php @arno opened the file with tmfviewer. It shows the picture of the ground. Does that confirm it’s a photoreal BGL? I thought I read that I can’t really for anything to edit the file. I can...

P3D v4 Question About Ground Polygons

@Chris Eve and @arno Thank you for your replies. Sim is P3Dv4.5. Scenery is for Roskilde (EKRK). It looks like it’s a satellite ground photo. I’ll see if I can figure out how it was made. Thanks again. Colin

P3D v4 Question About Ground Polygons

Good morning. I downloaded a small airfield off of Avsim. There is a ground polygon for the surrounding grassy area. It doesn’t change with the season, so it is very green this time of year when the remaining area is white with snow. I had hoped to edit the file to add some winter textures to...

P3D v4 Exception Error When Compiling

Good evening, I'm using the latest version of AFLT and I get the unhandled exception error when trying to compile an airport. Save library for - P3Dv4 is the only option Pilot Control is left blank Airport Operates 24hrs is checked Runway lights and Approach Lights Always on is not checked...

P3D v4 Attached Object Editor - position location

Good afternoon, Not sure if this is possible. I have a model for approach lights and I would like to attach a library object to make them visible from a little further away. There are a number of lights that I would need to do this for. Aside from trial and error, is there an easier way to find...
