• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    FSDS Solid perspective view problem

Thanks for the replies guys. At least I know that it's not something stupid that I did to cause the problem. I find that Abacus' "Virtual Aircraft Scenery Studio" displays the models correctly, so what I'm doing for a work around is use wire frame in FSDS and switch into VASS when I need to...

    FSDS Solid perspective view problem

Hi All, My new computer can't display all of the parts in FSDS solid perspective view. I get missing wings, missing parts of fuselage, etc. on static aircraft. Objects made from boxes are usually OK. Wire frame view is OK - the parts only disappear in solid view. It isn't just my models...

    FS9 Objects in FSX

Thanks very much Arno. You are right- finding those custom objects is very difficult. Let's hope that someone (like you for instance) writes a program that can overcome the lack of backward compatibility in FSX. Thanks again, Larry

    FS9 Objects in FSX

Hi Arno, Now I see! The custom libraries are there alright, but there are 4 GUID values for each line in the OPT and I can only select the first one. Do I need to remove the xml and text files from the active scenery folder? Thanks very much for your help. Larry

    FS9 Objects in FSX

Thanks Arno. I installed my custom libraries in the FSX Add-on scenery folder in the same way that they in FS9, but the FSX Object Placement Tool doesn't recognize them. I guess I'm not smart enough to figure out where they should be placed. The libraries I want to use consist of the bgl...

    FS9 Objects in FSX

Hi All, I'm in the early stages of scenery design for FSX, using only SBuilderX and the SDK Object Placement Tool so far. I have searched the forums for information on using my old scenery libraries in FSX and conclude that it can be done but I haven't found any thing about how to do it...

    Lost Object Placement Tool

Thanks Arno. This Forum, and especially you, have really been good to me. You have helped me over hurdles several times and I really appreciate it. I posted a message over at the SBuilder forum for anyone else unaware of the need to match FSX and the SDK. Thanks again, Larry

    Lost Object Placement Tool

Problem Solved !! Well Arno and Paul, you have found my problem. I had installed the SDK SP1A without realizing that it was an update. However I had NOT installed FSX Service Pack 1. When I took your suggestions and started checking for matchups I discovered what I had done. I installed...

    Lost Object Placement Tool

Thanks for the replies. I have not installed the service pack or the SDK service pack. I used the latest version of FSUIPC4 from Pete's web site. It appears that FSX is not reading the dll.xml at all. It ignores any changes in the lines to launch the Object placement tool. I really...

    Lost Object Placement Tool

Failure OK -- I am beaten. No amount of editing the dll.xml file is going to bring back the tools drop down box and the Object Placement Tool. I suppose it is something simple that is causing this, but it isn't a syntax error. I give up. Larry

    Lost Object Placement Tool

Thanks mikrco - I have checked my dll.xml file and there are some differences between your file and mine. I was starting to think that FSUIPC4 was not compatible with the MS Object Placement tool but obviously you are using both of them. I think I will start from scratch and edit my dll.xml...

    Lost Object Placement Tool

confused Thanks for the reply, but I'm confused guys. The only file I edited when I installed the object placement tool was the dll.xml file located in my applications data folder. After installing FSUIPC the file had changed, but only the lines required to activate FSUIPC. The lines that...

    Lost Object Placement Tool

Hi Group, I am trying to make the switch from designing for FS9 to FSX and having some difficulty. I had the FSX Object Placement Tool working until I installed SbuilderX and FSUIPC4. Now the tools drop down is gone - replaced by an "add on" box that has only FSUIPC in it. Next, I tried...

More on EZ-Scenery and blurred textures

Hi Arno, I really appreciate your comments. You are right - I need to keep up with the times, but I have used Photoshop to make indexed color textures for years and it always worked 'til now. I'm an old timer with FS going all the way back to Bruce Artwick's first program that I ran on an...

More on EZ-Scenery and blurred textures

Following advice from Arno and Meshman and with much experimentation, I have found that many objects that I made with FSDS3 using indexed color 8 bit textures are causing ground texture blur when the objects are placed with EZ-Scenery. However, in checking the properties of texture files in...
