• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Error compiling scenery with latest SDK

Unfortunately, this did not fix the problem. At this point, I have pretty much given up on any future updates to Pistol Creek. It looks like I would have to start over from scratch.

Error compiling scenery with latest SDK

Here are the relevant portions of the console error messages: Compiling GLTF data file 49id-barn_large.gltf... modelDataOne.scenes == modelDataOther.scenes GltfCompiler | Optimized and serialized model data is different from source model data, from file...

Error compiling scenery with latest SDK

Thanks for the update, Rick. I am at a complete impasse on my project. I changed absolutely nothing in the project. I even restored the source code from a backup from nine months ago. But it refuses to compile.

Error compiling scenery with latest SDK

Thanks for the suggestions, Rick. I will try creating a new project. I am truly puzzled with this error. My source files were still sitting unchanged on my hard drive. I never deleted them. All I did was try to compile them with the latest version of MSFS. I have now gone back and restored...

Error compiling scenery with latest SDK

Some time ago, I created a scenery add-on for a remote airstrip in Idaho (https://flightsim.to/file/12622/id49-pistol-creek-ranch-idaho) and last updated it about a year ago. This week I tried recompiling the scenery using the most current version of MSFS 2020 (1.29.30.0) and the SDK...

MSFS Blender cloth simulation baked to bones

Have a look at the FAQ at https://flightsim.to/file/14024/windy-things#pills-faq. You cannot scale Simobjects.

MSFS Blender cloth simulation baked to bones

The Canadian is absolutely included in the library.

MSFS I can't get 'windy things' flags to appear in FS2020

In this case, it was my senior moment that led to the problem. ;)

MSFS I can't get 'windy things' flags to appear in FS2020

No Jon, ADE did not add the space. I did that by accident in my original text file that I created to make it easier for folks to copy and paste the SimObject entries into the adeSimObjectList.dat file. My corrected file no longer has the spaces at the end of each line and will work fine. I...

MSFS I can't get 'windy things' flags to appear in FS2020

For those of you trying to use Windy Things in ADE, there was a problem in the data file that I provided. It turns out that each line of my data file for use with ADE had a space after the name. ADE included that space in the name of the object when it generated the XML file that is compiled...

    MSFS How to add Simobjects

Do not try copying files out of the Windy Things package into your own scenery. That is way too complicated and likely to lead to errors. Just follow the directions that I posted: install the Windy Things library into the MSFS Community folder like any other downloaded scenery, then add the...

    MSFS How to add Simobjects

Click the Ground Level Wind button: Then set the wind direction and speed and the gust direction and speed. Setting custom wind in the Flight Conditions before the flight does not seem to be working for me (unless I save it as a preset). It works if I change the wind conditions in the scene...

    MSFS How to add Simobjects

Here is my draft set of instructions. Let me know if this is clear enough. I have also attached the tsr-windy-things_ADE-List.txt file that has the names of all of the objects in the Windy Things library. Q: Can I use the Windy Things objects in scenery created with Airport Design Editor...

    MSFS How to add Simobjects

John, are you talking about my windsock from Windy Things?

    MSFS How to add Simobjects

John, I am going to try to write-up what you and Dick came up with, then save it as an FAQ in the Windy Things listing. Hopefully, in the future ADE will natively support SimObjects in its library without this hack.
