• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    Calling Effects From XML

RPN & Cabdir Thanks for the help especially Voodoo and Bambi. Voodoo: I am familiar with Cabdir and have a directory set up with an appropriately named subdir for "compiling" cab files. I also have a couple of batch files that 1) get me there when I open up a DOS window and 2) cab the...

    lookup_var GAUGE_TOKEN some missing variables...

Parameters Wanted Sim, First off are you programming the gauge in some flavor of C or in XML. If the former, the three ?_trim token vars return a pointer to a string with the deflection in radians. Now I am not a C programmer - don't even play one on television - but I am familiar with a...

    Calling Effects From XML

OK, could you give me a line or two of pseudo code to illustrate how to do it? I would want to run the FX at various power or flap settings. I'm still new at this whole backwards-polack thinking that seems to be the heart of XML. I know how to turn a gauge on or off - using the "Visible"...

    Calling Effects From XML

Can anyone give me the general syntax to call an FX from an XML gauge? My understanding is that the only way to activate an FX outside of the stock ones is to call it via XML. Also, I need to be able to call the effects conditionally. Since I doubt the basic "Visible" attribute to an element...

    guage graphic edit??

Brian, Is it a .gau gauge or an XML gauge? In the case of the former, FSPanelStudio will let you do that - at least most of the time. ;) If it's a .gau there is a tool called GAUBMP that Chuck Dome published over a decade ago for FS98. As far as I can tell it still works. I know you can...

Calling FX via XML Gauge - FS9

Never Mind I guess no one is interested in answering a question for me. No matter. I'll figure it out on my own. Tootles

Calling FX via XML Gauge - FS9

I believe I have heard that to use a custom effect in an aircraft in FS9 I need to call that effect in a gauge. In general what would that syntax look like? I am working on a model that takes off via lift jets (via Rob Berendregt's VTOL gauge) and transitions to conventional flight. I'd...

    Another New Guy

I just recently found this forum. Have been picking brains over at Freflight Design for a couple of years (Fr. Bill will attest to what a pest I can be ;) ). Right now my most pressing need is in gauge programming plus I am getting into effects. I am currenly working on a model of the...
