• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

3ds max objects mirrored

3ds max v7 terminal building objects were mirrored and imported into FSX.

The mirrored polygons or surfaces show normal in 3ds max but they are reversed and invisible in FSX. It will be time consuming to go back and try to do every detail without mirroring in 3ds.

Can any one help please?
Thanks

Hi,

In GMax there is something wrong with the mirror modifier, you can only use the one from the menu. Not the one from the toolbar. Maybe in 3DS7 there is something similar.

But there is no other solution then going back to 3DS7 and fix it there. Quick and dirty solution would be to flip the polygon normals (then it will look wrong in 3DS7 but should export fine). Better solution is to go back and don't use the wrong mirror function :).

It may sound truly bizzare, but...

Select your "Mirrored" parts, then click on "Mirror" (toolbar) again to "Un-Mirror" them...

Now, with all parts still selected, add a "Mirror" modifier to the stack.

This should recover your work with the least effort!

I could not take the risk of using the mirror command again. I am creating new polygons where mirrored. Time consuming but sure way.

Thanks

What risk? You simply use a backup copy for testing!
