• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I have a huge bridge with some 200 lights attached - and a big problem:

I want to add parameters for the light effects (only visible at dusk/dawn and maybe night). That would mean I had to click on every attach point in max and enter the parameters in the properties box. omg...

Is there a way to add that in the x-file max created? Would be great if I could spare all the extra work. :)

None of you coders ever did that? :(

Would be very disappointing if there'd be no possibility to do that.

As for myself, the only thing I can find in an x-file is the GUID... :o

Hi Thorsten,

No, I never tried that. I think the attachpoint information is stored in a "compiled" form in the X file. There was a recent blog post from Adrian Woods about this.

So technically it should be possible to change it, if you know what to change it to. But as I only have GMax, I have no access to the X files unfortunately. So that makes studying them quite hard.

Thanks, Arno. I really hoped on you :D but of course forgot that you stick with GMax.

I guess it's a learning process for me - never will forget to add the parameters in the first place... :o

Check out the blog of Adrian Woods, I think with that information you might be able to identify the part of the X file you need to change.

Ok, found it. Still so much to learn for me :) - but at least it seems possible.
