• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Greetings, all. This is my first attempt at gmax scenery, so it's nothing impressive as the SLC screenies. (Awesome work, BTW, that SLC looks really nice....!!!)

Photo textures, ofcorse, and grass rwy, but tarmac using fs2002 groundpoly goodies. Not trying to do gndpoly for runway, kills autogen in surrounding area. So, I'll play with that on the next project.

Not a big airport, but a nice project to get familiar with gmax, and now that I am using gmax, I don't know why I didn't get aquainted with it before... I always thought it was too hard to learn, and its awesome, actually...

Well, nothing fancy, but here is some screenies of my first gmax project... enjoy :)

very nice! glad to have another scenery for a VA airport! :D

that is a neat little airfield

Thanks... The thing about this airport is, they are constantly expanding the museum, so updates will be constant. There is alot on the table for expansion as well as a smaller North/South grass rwy for the WWI A/C, and another set of hangars for more museum planes.

The current release soon to be wont include the new runway, Google Earth doesnt show it yet. I fly online with a friend that lives close to there, so thats where the photos for the textures come from. He says the runway is pretty much complete, but its so new and hard to find exact info on, I will wait for an update to 'cut' it into the autogen, etc until I have concrete info as to its exact location. I dont think the owners of the field have an exact blueprint of its location and finalle yet, if I am not mistaken, its cut out of the area, but not 'official' yet, so I will wait to include it...

We do have a couple more VA airports planned soon as well as some small upstate NY strips. Small ones. I like doing the small fields, they have 'patina' and not many default sceneries do them justice.

awesome deal!

what other VA airports are on the table, just curious? :D

i've built several unreleased airports in the southwestern part of the state that i eventually plan on releasing as a package

well, for starters, we are looking at a small field in north carolina actually, its 7NC2 on the coastal land strip.

Its a really small field, and shouldn't take too long to slam out, its very simple, and when my friend gets some shots of the structures (or structure, rather...) that one will be done... but since i said that, im sure there are anomolies that will make it difficult. there is no 'easy' scenery... there is always SOMETHING that fights the process.

Currently Im doubling on a field in upstate NY, 5B2 and doing a satelite photo as well as ground poly runways, etc... fun fun fun... we'll see how well this comes out.... i'm encouraged, done scenery for years, but this is my first sets using gmax and ground polys, so im trying to bite off more than i can chew...

Oh yeah, that one is a private paved strip on the outer banks near Currituck airport. Being a North Carolinian, I'm quite familiar with all of that area. Elizabeth City is especially nice... one of the largest coast guard air stations in the US

somebody needs to help me with KLHZ :)

I also am going to do what really is the closest airport to my house 79NC- Ball. Doesnt get what it deserves in FS... I guess it would be impossible to accurately do every little bity airport but somebody can :)

-- I know I know... but texturing is above my head-- at least in gmax dont know if its any easier in FSDS

my laptop is being repaired so once that finishes then I will be able to do more FSX stuff

thanks jim :)

jon, yes, that coastal apt is on a small stip of land, so it will be very simple... I saw shots of the ground and there is one building and a couple fences and bushes, and thats it... its quite uneventful ...

42VA is done for now, including current construction on museum to date...

it only looks best in fs2004....

I uploaded it to flightsim.com . filename is '42va_v10.zip'

all who download it, enjoy.....

Yes, It seems that anything generated with an api and compiled does not show alpha transparencies, but the same alpha channels show fine in things generated in gmax... (and compiled from an *.mdl.)

currently trying to find out how to get things to rotate on themselves on a large scale instead of tweeking individually. Im discussing this in the gmax thread. I use 2D planes alot instead of complex 3d polygon magnets on objects that are numerous and dont need 3D representation, but the rotate to uyser feature is tough to do on tons of these objects individually...

so, currently, my scenery only works in fs9, i have fsx but use fs9 still, my computer is fast, but slow compared to fsx.... i havent gone to fsx yet, my fs9 looks sooo much better than i can get half as close in fsx to, and still maintain fps sanity, i havent been convinced to go fsx yet...

so, my scenery creations are designed for fs9 for the time being...

thanks for downloading it... hope you enjoy it :)
