• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I would like to give a big thank you to Arno and his innovative Model Converter X program. I have discovered that I can create FSX and P3D native models out of existing models for my own use or for the public with the original author's consent as in the case of the Nemeth Designs MD Helicopters MD500.

The last few days, I've been converting 2 jewels from the FS9 era and these are the Hiller OH23/UH12 from Tim Conrad and the Bell 47 from Jean Marie Mermaz.

These 2 projects are personal and won't be released to the public as Tim and Jean are no longer in flightsim and searching for them or finding a way to contact them is not possible.

Maybe one day if they're able to be found, I may release them.

I originally wanted these in FSX, but everything doesn't work after exporting, although they do in P3DV4. Arno, have any solutions?

What do you mean with everything doesn't work? Are all animations and such broken? If things work in P3D, but not in FSX, the process of converting seems fine.

The models have the same animation and visibility tags, materials, etc and exported the same way. Even though everything is exported for the FSX version, they simply refuse to work, but have no issues in P3DV4.

But does none of the animations work or do only some not work?

Some do, some don't or not at all. I save all X files for further modifications, maybe I can shoot those your way?

What might help is if you look at those specific animations that don't work and compare them in the FSX and P3D output. Maybe you can spot a difference.

Arno,

The animations are the same for both platforms, same modeldef, all animations and visibility tags are default. I'll check to see if there are differences between both exported models.
