• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hello,

this is my first posting here, and I'd like to present my current project "CrewSounds 2010".

You know the kind of situation. You sit in front of your computer, flying around, but something is missing. Exactly, you're alone (usually). While on normal flights, you’re sitting with several people in a plane. But as a home pilot, you’re sitting alone in front of the computer. With CrewSounds 2010 it will change a little. You’re still sitting alone in front of the computer, but at least you can hear in the background a little something.

If you want to test my application have a look on my page.

kind regards

Hi,

Thanks for this interesting initiative.
Unfortunately I cannot get it to work.
Tried it on a Posky B747-800 Ryanair livery on a IFR flight from EDLV to LEAL.
It was very quiet in the cockpit, no doors slamming, no background noise, no music, no voices, no nothing. Normal cockpit sound fell away.
Maybe there is something in the FSX settings that have to be changed?
Or is my onboard sound card not up to it?
I thought sounds should be wav format?

Hi,

ok to check what's going wrong here some questions:

1) Is CrewSounds connected to the FSX as described in the manual on page 16?

2) Did you start a profile?

3) Is there any error msg in the debug.txt?

4) Do you have FSUIPC? (Just to make sure ;) )

5) Please check the selected sound device in the settings. Is it correct? Do you hear anything when starting a profile? (There must be a "Gong" and something like "Your flight is now ready for boarding ...")

I thought sounds should be wav format?

No, because it's a stand alone application. You can run it on a second PC with WideFS.

kind regards
Oliver

Hello Oliver,
In reply to your questions:
1) Is CrewSounds connected to the FSX as described in the manual on page 16?
Yep.

2) Did you start a profile?
No, I used the default (standard)

3) Is there any error msg in the debug.txt?
There was but that was because I had extracted the files without putting them in the right folders.

4) Do you have FSUIPC? (Just to make sure )
Yes

5) Please check the selected sound device in the settings. Is it correct? Do you hear anything when starting a profile? (There must be a "Gong" and something like "Your flight is now ready for boarding ...")
Yes it is and yes I did.

Hi,

are the files in the correct directory? Like C:\Program Files\CrewSounds\profile\standard\*.ogg

A made a little change to CrewSounds. Would you please download the package again? You need the CrewSounds.exe only.

kind regards
Oliver

Good morning,

Looks like it is now working.
Some things I experienced when loading default En:
- Captain welcomes you in German (is that because I left from EDLV?:))
- Engine sounds are (almost) muted by the program when on the ground;
- Difficult to set extra cockpit sounds to the right volume (could that perhaps be set more or less correct from the start but still adaptable?)

Hello,

Captain welcomes you in German (is that because I left from EDLV?)
It's not a bug, it's a feature ;). It's correct now, he's no longer talking in german.

Engine sounds are (almost) muted by the program when on the ground;

Interesting. I don't mute the sound. The only thing I write to the FS is the text part. The rest like speed, altitute are read only.

Difficult to set extra cockpit sounds to the right volume (could that perhaps be set more or less correct from the start but still adaptable?)

Difficult, I used the sounds from different sources and flights. Maybe someone else could create a "real deal" sound package.

kind regards
Oliver

Hi,

Looks like he is keeping quiet in all languages the rest of the trip except when climbing (I mean when the plane is climbing :o).
After four hours I finished my Ryanair flight from EDLV to LEAL ( No "tataaaa" at the end because I was late ) but after takeoff I never heard any more announcements from the captain, no doors slamming nor passengers getting worked up because we were late.
Still, interesting idea, but it needs some more testing, I think.
Would like to see some more people testing the possibilities.

I think your problem is the RyanAir:
* The stewardesses are not aboard anymore (no service!).
* The passengers don't get any food and the walk to the toilet is very expensive!
* There is only one pilot in the cockpit and he has so much to do that he does not have any time to talk anything.

;)

Hi,

maybe you didn't set the seatbelt signs or missed another thing. You can edit the settings in the settings.xml for each Event.

Morning Oliver,

Debug txt: debug txt gone because I overwrote it with the latest updated download, but I recall it struck me that at cruise speed and cruise altitude debug txt indicated:
GS -16 and
IAS 360.
And a whole lot of 'slew' although I did not slew.
I loaded the default En, so I guessed that seat belt signs are automatic?
I know I can change the settings in the settings.xml but wanted to try out the default first.

PS for Georg:
- What do you call those foreign accented "Missed World" ladies that walk around in a blue and yellow outfit then?
- And who/what is the guy sitting next to the pilot?

Hi,

that GS -16 thing is "normal" ;).
The slew mode entry was for debbuging, and it's no longer a part of it.

You guessed wrong, the seatbelt signs aren't in the automatic mode. You can switch it on within the settings frame.

A new Beta is available. I hope it's one of the last.

kind regards
Oliver
