• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 A condition on the texture

Ok, I will try to explain what I have in mind...
Flying around Cloud9 LAX scenery, I've noted one amazing feature, you know the LAX landmark, this building change cyclically its color during all the day every 5-10 seconds.
I looked in the texture folder of that scenery and I found they use 4 texture (lax_038.bmp ; lax_038A.bmp ; lax_038B.bmp ; lax_038C.bmp) one texture for every color.
This are not effects so I'm wondering on how apply 4 or more different texture to the same model and tell them to display cyclically.
they are not related to a specific day in the year or a specific time during the day, they only change cyclically.

thanks in advance, Andrea

might be an idea, I will try to watch the change more accurately, I'm very interested in this.

I've found another scenery which implement this feature, a New York downtown scenery, in this scenery the Empire State Building, has colors which can change depending on the date!

Hi,

By tweaking the ASM code manually it is possible to change the texture being used based on certain conditions. It is basicaly the same as tweaking for seasonal textures, only you use a different variable to switch them.

Thank you Arno!!! that's the answer I was looking for!!!! now I will try to find all the infos on ASM conditions codes, hope to be able to do what I have in mind :)

Just post again if you need a little help with the tweaking, we are happy to assist you :).

after a night of :stirthepo..... -> :banghead:........ more ->:stirthepo......... and other :banghead:...........

finally I got it working!!!!!!!! :D:D ASM tweaking is not so hard, I had problems only with night texture to show correctly, but now all is working the right way!!

now I'm able to do what I had on mind, my idea is to have some buildings with a triple state texture, day-dawn/dusk-night and for some building I will add an extra "Christmas time" night texture.

I will post some screenshot of the finished work, for testing I have used only a cube...
If someone is interested in the ASM code involved, I will post it!!

Thank you again Arno for the help, FSdeveloper site is really a wonderful resource!!! :)
